Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else had similar issues here.

Whenever I play BFBC2 on my alienware laptop, it seems that the HUD has some extremely bad problems. The bugs start with the map. It seems like the UI is glitchy when the map is open. I can not really pinpoint what it is doing exactly because its hard to describe.

After I jump into the battle, whenever I mouse my cross hair over a triangle of an enemy or friendly troop, icons start flashing over my hud. When I look away it glitches for a few more seconds and goes away for a minute or so. It really glitches bad when I bring up a scope. It seems like a grey box covers half of my screen.

I ruled out hardware. Every other game plays flawlessly. I was thinking it may be some sort of graphic card incompatibility, but it seems I have all of the latest drivers.

Anyone have any ideas on this? I can take screenshots if needed.

Fixed it. Looks like my graphics drivers were out of date.

Obviously you are stuck in 1999, so I'll help you out. There is hardware now that is *gasp* portable. That can play *gasp* games on a computer you can take anywhere.

Obviously you don't go to many lan parties or conventions where you bring your own computer.

For the future I suggest listing your system specs in any trouble queries. What model alienware laptop you have doesn't tell anyone anything important.

Specs wouldn't really help the problem. It was an issue with the game itself and the version of the nvidia drivers. I posted to see if other people had similar issues because I haven't seen anything on google or these forums with similar problems.

@ f0rkz

Hey buddy, was just doing a search to see if anybody has had any issues with BC2 and the Alienware m15x and found this thread. I bought the m15x thinking that I would be fine with BC2 but seems like there are a few issues.

Just a few notes to compare experiences:
- I too had the graphics issues on the hud. Made single player game unplayable but not as bad as on MP. This was fixed by setting the DX version to DX=9 in the settings file. I have no more issues but I consider this a workaround.
- Note sure if you have this issue but the m15x is quiet initially but the fan starts to become noisy when playing any FPS (I thought my other laptop was noisy but this one is a lot louder). I can live with this if I had no issues with performance.
- Occasionally, I get slowdown's in single player when lots happening.
- Forgot to add, that I tried to update graphics drivers but Win7 said uptodate (Nvidia website said same thing) so only fix was to use DX9.

FYI, I play on 1600x900 and on high settings. The graphics cards is GTX 260M and CPU is i7-720QM with turbo to 2.8. These settings appear/or exceed recommended settings from the manual system specs.

Part of this post is to compare similar Alienware experiences for BC2. I'm trying to determine if others have had the same issue.

Hello,

I have the same config as you do on my M15X and also have very bad performance with BC2, no problems in any other games, just this one. I will try with the DX9 setting to see if this solves the problems.

Hey buddy,

Try these things.

- For performance, make sure you are not running in stealth mode (turn off stealth mode and make sure the icon is dim - check the manual if it doesn't make sense).
- Go to the Nvidia website and search for the Nvidia 200 series mobile drivers. Even though Windows 7 says the drivers are up to date, install these drivers and the hud issues should disappear.

I've done the following and suggested to someone else and these have worked for me. I am running 1600x900 at Medium (I haven't been able to run at high but this is playable for me).

No problems. It took me awhile to do the research as well so glad it worked out.
