FULL REVIEW

Both cars are quite similar. They apparently have similar performance but, once in the road, the Evolution X, as its own name indicates, seems to be the necessary and desired "Evolution" of the IX version. Buying an Evo IX isn't a bad idea but you have to take in consideration some facts.

- Evolution IX is a well-known import car compared to your biggest rivals (Mazda RX-7, Nissan Silvia and BMW Z4).
- The first impression is so bad. You probably drove a great Tier 1 car few races ago such as Toyota GT-S (AE-86) and you can't even appreciate the difference between these two classes until you improve your car.
- After earning some money, you will be able to purchase new car Sport/Race parts reaching the maximum level and posibilities with your "Evo".
- If you race against a full customized Mazda RX-7 or BMW Z4 you won't be able to overtake them that easy because of the car handle, which is so bad and heavy like a russian tank.
- During a race, you can't defend yourself from someone who is about to overtake you because, at high speed, the Evolution IX don't respond and steer that easy to suddenly block your opponent, just turn a little bit in an attempt to pass the curve propertly.
- You will be able to win the most of the races if you don't commit mistakes, crash against any wall or car and use some PowerUps to fight for the first place.
- After a long time racing with the Evolution IX, you will miss a better handle and steering wheel response with the same car philosophy (Evolution X).

You must forget about the in-game car stadistics because they aren't accurate. I highly recommend you to fully setup your car with acceleration parts instead of looking for top speed.
In NFS: World, both EVO IX and X have a high top speed and giving it more is useless becase you won't be able to reach that, -anywhere-.

The straights aren't long enough during races if you reach that it lasts few seconds so there is no advantage plus your acceleration will be, obviosly slow being impossible to win.

I have tested both: full top-steep and acceleration setups and the top speed don't seems to be affected. The game even gives you the same top-speed points/blue bars with the maximum acceleration setup insteaf of top speed configuration.

Once you reach the 20th level, you will be able to purchase an Evolution X for $250.000. It's only recommendable to buy an EVO X if you really like it and wish to fight against nice cars like RX-7, BMW Z4... The RX-7 price is just $60.000 and with the rest of money you could improve it so fast, saving a lot of money.

For other side, the RX-7 Battle-Machine Edition costs just $300.000 and definitely is one of best Tier 2 cars along with the Lotus Elise and the Nissan Skyline R34...

Once with the Evolution X in your hands, your first impression will be much more better than the EVO IX one, even great! The handle is one of the more tangible improvements until you fully upgrade it with full acceleration setup.

- With the Evolution X, you will be able to beat some Lotus Elise drivers and part of the RX-7, BMW Z4... It completely depends of drivers skills, circuit, start position, luck factor and how much you fight for the first place with your PowerUps.
- You won't obtain an easy win against full/best Tier 2 cars unless you do a perfect start/race, using some PowerUps.
- If you hate Mazda RX-7, BMW Z4 and can't beat them with your Evolution, just leave the race before start and find another with equal opponents for you. You can also save money and purchase a Nissan Skyline R-34 in the future, which kills both of them.

CONCLUSION

- Maybe, buying both Lancers isn't a good idea but stills good (I own both). You can just wait and directly buy the "X" version, which is with difference the best.
- Evolution cars has the greatest nitrous impulse of the whole game so you have to take it in consideration and make a good use of the extra start NOS. You will reach great results if you just apply a second charge once it's available, right after the race's start, leaving your opponents behind.
- The Evolution X top speed is 8 Km/h higher than the IX version. (268/260 Km/h)
- Acceleration is almost the same, Evolution X is 1 Km/h faster in a straight. (168/167 Kmh/h)
- Both cars have the same NOS impulse (+10 Km/h) during a straight acceleration almost reaching 200 Km/h.
- The Evolution X reverse speed is 2 Km/h higher than the IX version (76/74 Km/h).
- The Evolution IX grip is so bad. As stated above, it steers slow, making it impossible to block someones cars passing you.
- The Evolution X steer is way better than the IX version, being able to block someone and defend yourself.
- Fork turns and rest of the curves are much more easy with the Evolution X.
- Using any Lancer Evolution, requires much more skill than another regular car just because you need to be more predictive, especially with the IX version, openning to the exterior before starting turn to pass the cuve on its interior, leaving it through the exterior once again.
- Driving the IX seems to be slippery, like if you were driving over the ice/snow. Evolution X differs from it, giving you a fast response and great grip/control, like the Mazda RX-7 or the Tier 1 AE-86.
- Evolution X wins IX version with more top speed and much more important, the handle which is highly improved.
- Both cars are great for team pursuits and the X version is greater for races.
- The engine sound is similar in both cars.
- Remember to fully setup your Lancer Evolutions with acceleration parts, which is much more important and gives you chance to fight in the most of the game races, you won't need or miss more top speed, -tested-.
