I AQUIRED "INFO" THAT THE DESIGN TEAMS FO EA TW'S AND MADDEN WERE UNDER CHANGES IN THE DESIGN TEAM ITSELF I.E PERSONELL.
The core team of Producers from TW09 are back for TW10. There have been some personnel changes, but this is nothing new for TW nor EA Production Teams as this takes place every year to some degree.....

> If EASports would listen to the people buying their games and give them the support and changes we want, the might hit their everloving target profit line. Giving up on a format just shows where their head is. If it's not making a profit, you first have to ask WHY? Not give up and say "OH WELL".
My reaction to no TW09 for the PC was:
'Yes! EA are going to take an extra year or 2 to redo or work out all the little quirks and bugs that have been highlighted by this forum for the past 4 years.'
This is exactly what users on this forum have been asking for and I am glad they have decided to cancell their yearly iteration to "improve" the game, maybe DX10 graphics, threaded optimisation for multi core processors, widescreen native support 16:9 & 16:10, vista optimisation, etc. Being involved with software development myself (not games but in business applications for automatic document creation and formatting. Its actually very complex, I wrote and debuged 15,000 lines of code in the past 12 months) I do understand that 12 months is not enough time to fully rework code and graphics for a new version every year which is why (I guess) the core game hasn't changed greatly from TW03 to TW08.
Also, 12 months isn't really enough time to play the game fully for most people (we work, have families too and sometimes sneak a real game of golf in, lol).
And as for being profit driven, maybe they are, I hope so, that maybe why they've decided to pull out for a year and improve the game so it will sell better because it is better, for us? This makes more sense to me and is a positive not a negative.
Brett

I certainly hope that some unrealistic features of the TW 08 game are fixed. The one thing that irritates me the most is the inconsistent and unrealistic backspin that is generated on a "normal" shot. There is a High Spin shot there that is supposed to be the option to put backspin on the ball to either stop the ball dead, or get some roll backwards from it. But, come on, taking a normal shot and landing it on the green and getting 50-60 feet of backspin? Just not realistic at all, even for a man like Tiger himself. Normal shots will roll forward, as not much backspin is applied, in real golf. Even the pros try to put a lot of backspin on a ball and can't get the results they want. Anything over 20 ft. is just too exaggerated.
Another thing that annoys me is the "invisible" branches. I've been burned countless times by shots that look like they went either over or under a branch, only to mysteriously hit something that wasn't there. They just change flight in mid-air, without hitting anything. And then there is the really dumb unplayable lies that are no where near an obstruction. For example - Twice on the TPC Boston course, I had unplayable lies either on the green or on the fringe. I hit one shot that hit the rocks on the edge of the green, bounced towards the pin and hit the pin, then rolled just a couple of feet away, rested on the green, and it told me i had an unplayable lie! Tell, me, what green in any PGA tour has an unplayable lie on the green?
I certainly hope EA Sports works on these annoying bugs. The 08 game is full of them.

Well here is my 2 cents. I like TW08 PC a lot. Sure when you buy all the hats you get booted to the desktop when you click on the last hat. Sure the back spin on the ball has to be caused by an ex TW08 PC gallery person throwing the ball back down the green which you don't see him do. (Would be better if you could at least you could get a laugh. Or try to hit him with your puttter) Sure most of the time your driver looks like the last iron you used because the graphic was not updated. But I still love TW08 PC. Why? I come home late from work. Sit down. Get out a course. Get out a drink. Imagine I am Manuel Angel Himenes. And just have some plain fun. I have played it for a year and am good. 35 under par on expert is not unusual. So now I hear no more PC TW. Well I understand bottom line and they are not in this to lose money. I am sure their market studies have showed they would lose money if the did a TW09 PC. Well may be they could make a little money if they would consider this. I would gladly pay them for a few new courses that I could integrate into TW08 PC. How hard would that be for them to do? And I would pay them program price. Say 5 new courses. Course they probably arn't going to read this because they have already made their decision. So Hey...I'm only out 2 cents. Big deal.

I spent a couple of weeks looking for TW09 before I learned it would not be available. I really hope EA reconsiders and releases TW10 as soon as possible.

I think EA is making a really bad Mistake. Most of the TW players on here have spent untold amounts of money upgrading their vidio cards only to be tossed on the crap heap.

On order to allow TW to be cost effective for the pc maybe you could come out with a pc version like 2 years from now and have it include the best parts of previous TW pc versions in it along with some new stuff. Also, include a course designer program that allows for water to be displayed properly like it is shown in the EA created courses and have an updated course designer that works better too. The things to include in pervious tw pc versions might be for example, one year one could Tiger Proof a course and others years one could do other things. Allow more clubs in a bag. And somehow disable the need when one starts a career from scratch to have to play against all the same buddies and hack players this it to tedious and aggravating when one wants to start a new career from scratch have them go to a driving range and play against threreself to improve. Getting expierience points which gives one longer shot abilities accruacy and stuff. Also, I can only play on like the easy setting if I try the next setting up the ball goes haywire all over the course maybe allow forgiving club purchases to actually be more forgiving. and the hardness levels so to speak to not be so radical between them. I can't imagine what the ball would do if I played on the extremely hard level where one can't look ahead and doesnt know distances or club lenghts I cant enjoy this type of play becase If I try it the ball just goes all over the place - in other words allow the pc golfer to be able to tweak anything like the clud lenghts are not give he cant look ahead but he is still an accurate shooter. Allow them to slice it more eaily etc. This may take away from realism but it adds playability which it Y we play computer games anyway its not all about realism its about fun and playability .. email me at thelasticon@bellsouth.net and I can advise you all how to get $150.00 per game.. Doing all this I would pay $165.00
Thanks in advance Bob

Locking this thread since it is common knowledge that EA is coming out with a new PC version in the near future. Thanks to all who commented in this thread.
