this is what i got for the definition of GOLF:

a game in which clubs with wooden or metal heads are used to hit a small, white ball into a number of holes, usually 9 or 18, in succession, situated at various distances over a course having natural or artificial obstacles, the object being to get the ball into each hole in as few strokes as possible.

There is no universally accepted derivation for the word 'golf.' One of the most common misconceptions is that the word GOLF is an acronym for Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden. This at least is definitely not true.

wooo thank god. I was worried there for a sec. lol

I played with 3 women once when I was first playing golf in the early 80's (I no longer play, other interests, too long to play, shoulder injury). That said, these woman reminded me of the Little Rascals episode where they could not play golf for their lives. These woman were using 3 woods out of deep rough and could not get the ball 2 feet off the ground. I think my 9 hole round took about 7 hours.

I am not saying all women play bad, it was just a memorable experience.
