At the very least, the player limit has to be upped to 32 or more. Also, prone should in if they want the game to do well. DICE mustn't forget that the PC players are going to be coming 99% from BF2 and 2142 where prone is as natural as breathing. If they make the PC version with features that appeal mostly to the console players, the game won't do too well overall.

There will be too many QUALITY games out by the time they release the PC version.
I for one ain't hanging around for a dumbed down version of BF1942. Seriously, it's been 7 years and they are taking more * out of the game than they are adding.
Obviously just interested in quantity rather than quality.

So, my turn I suppose to put in my two cents if its worth it.
I have an XBOX360 and a PS3...as of yet I have not found a want or need to play any games on them that are FPS (those that I have are vastly overrated).
Here are some notions: All technology increases over time...PC's are generally speaking the only electronic device that can be upgraded to match the technological improvements that are adopted. Consoles are closed devices that provide only the hardware for which they are developed. This means that in the PC world the device can be adopted and grown with time and in the console world you are limited to whatever technology comes with the unit. (By the way Cell processing came from mainframe computers and yes also personal computers - this is generally referred to as grid computing - sharing processes for a larger application).
Additionally, many manufacturers of PC's would love to have a closed loop architecture that prevented their purchasers from going out and upgrading their unit. This would have the effect of requiring them to buy a 'new' device every couple of years as well and do the same that it does for nintendo, sony and microsoft (continual income from upgraded devices that support previous generational games).
I am not saying that there is merit in the idea that pc gamers are better or console gamers should get this or that. This is always going to be at the discretion of which model the industry favors. At the moment, the industry is favoring consoles. While this leaves an unfortunate taste in my mouth, it will be soon that the technology present in the consoles will no longer be sufficient to support 'next' generational gaming. Whereas again the PC world will be back as the default standard...that is until people by the Wii 2, PS4, XBox Next or whatever platform is released by those mfr's.
Piracy is an an issue across all platforms, hardware and technologies. If it is digital it can be copied...all games are digital and reproduceable. For pc and consoles there are plenty of sites that have ISO Copies of games ready to be downloaded. Though, I believe that soon games will be released with USB Keys (flash drives with a Unique Hashcode to unlock installations - and will be updated once the game is installed so that it is keyed in turn to that systems hardware id.)
As to the topic starter - Generally, the issue isn't as much about anger as it is about dissatisfaction with the idea that any game would be produced without it supporting a built in gaming community that actually is 'WAITING' to spend money for a new rendition of its most popular title. If it were me, I'd bang out some code and drop a game on the shelves as soon as I could...so, that another cash injection could show my shareholders that I know what I am doing, but I digress I'm nothing more special that someone that buys games.
LOL.
My Humble Opinion - only matters if you read it.

Well what do know, thats when BFBC 2 comes out. Now who is going to play this when that comes out? They just should have thrown PC's a bone to keep them from barking so much.

One question for ya. How many games out there are made in the clarity HD. Unless you spend money on a high end PC or upgrades, your not going to get HD quality gaming fot $350-500 bucks.

All of them are. Just about every PC display nowadays is designed to display HD and most graphics cards can support an HD quality resolution.

Hiya Gordon, we've spoken a few times, thru twitter, and at events..
I think we just need more updates on the PC version as the twitters and any talk of the PC version has gone quiet.. I preordered within 1 min of the first tweet about the preorder but now that the newness factor has worn off and all the press seemingly going to BC2 makes me wonder whats been holding the BF franchise back on this release. It keeps getting pushed further and further back, and now the company has missed the holiday ordering sweetspot release time. Hopefully its planned for more maps, weapons/vehicles perhaps similar to BFH when this is available, but as history has always shown, games that do not release very near their counterpart's release dates almost always fail in popularity, and the media coverage... Media coverage and advertising budget I doubt will be spent twice on one title, and it seems this title has fallen behind PS3/Xbox in importance and might be another BF Vietnam flop. Might the BF1943 see the light of day before the new year? Please post, and twitter some updates for all us PC guys so we don't feel it was a waste of a preorder. Thanks Gordon.
Steve

Though I still have hopes that you will consider an open beta during the summer holidays to make up for it.
That is correct. The whole thing is about "June" or "Summer" now. But not for us (PC gamers) It is just depressing to see more and more devs forgetting the PC audience. We too watch trailers and we also want to be officially spoken to. While I can not talk for the whole community, I think many PC gamers just feel like forsaken.
Sorry for my bad english btw.
I Most Whole-Heartedly AGREE with this post!!

I have yet to see a PC version of a game (at least the ones I've played) be "exactly" the same as consoles. If this were the case, they would be releasing the PC version now as most PC's would handle a console port of this game (since hardware specs' on consoles are lower than your typical 2 yr old or newer PC).
Fact is, nobody knows yet either way, and to say it's gonna be the same is just as ignorant as someone saying it will be completely different. Until it is released or they decide the PC crowd finally deserves an update on hardware specs, etc, everything is speculation.
My biggest complaint so far is the complete lack of information for the PC version from day1. The console version had regular updates. I mean even BF Heroes had a speculative PC hardware recommendation when they first started the beta (which was from about day 1). The lack of a decisive direction towards the consumer regarding the PC version and its' release has where DICE has failed the most so far IMO.
Being a die-hard '42 player (there is still no game as fun IMO, even now), and figuring BF '43 was being developed by the same company as 42 was, it still amazes me that they would even have the stones to say they were'nt looking at a PC version when they conceived this game. Even if they have a quarter to half the d/l numbers that the console version got, that is profit that DICE and EA might not see if they keep bungling the handling of the PC release. I would think that would make a high up bean-counter at EA pretty pissed off, especially in this competitve market. You are talking wasted profit because of ignorance.
"My biggest complaint so far is the complete lack of information for the PC version from day1"
I Totally AGREE!
More info PLEASE, DICE and EA!
I even Pre-Ordered in the hope that the "Comittment" of the funds MIGHT help show EA/DICE that there are "Oldsters" ( I am 45 ) that DO enjoy a Well Done WW2 Sim.....
Thanks,
DocH

My 2 cents. (I posted this in another thread and figured it fit here too.)
Response from other thread:
I've come to the realize that I think DICE has decided to somehow incorporate BF 1943 into the BFBC2 release for the PC. Maybe as an "expansion" or "mod" downloadable on the BFBC2 release date. I also am pretty sure it will NOT be just 4 maps when released. I'm thinking 8 at least with the console getting DLC map packs at the same time for BF 43.
The facts (and opinions):
1. This is the first foray for the Frostbite engine onto the PC version. Why make that splash with a less than full version of a game. Although with the d/l specs released (10GB WOW!!) I think there is much more to this game coming to the PC than console's have atm (remember BFBC2 specs say 15GB, only 5GB more for a full version game!!! HMMMM). I do think console's will get new DLC content at the same time.
2. I think everyone knows by now this game is finished or ready. Remember the console version released early July! They obviously wanted to add features to the PC version and what better way than to mimic BFBC2 specs like player count, etc. I also think they shelved any talk of this game so BFBC2 would be the focal point for the release. Watch this game get mentioned again near the March 2nd release date
3. Have others noticed how TIED IN these 2 games have become for the PC version? I think this is more than an advertising ploy. Why ruin your biggest launch of the year in BFBC2 by releasing BF43 before it? I think the Infinity Ward Modern Warfare 2 debacle sealed the deal for the PC version being incorporated into the BFBC2 release.
Just MHO
