I'm the type that might! With JDPG's failure on the PS3, I just took my Playstation 3/Move money and bought a Playseat Evolution (Forza Motorsports 3 Special Edition). 2 Aura Pro Bass Shakers (piston operated vibration subwoofers), and a Dayton 100W Subwoofer Amplifier. I bolted the Bass Shakers to the side supports of the Playseat Evolution, tucking them just underneath the seat, and hit the "power on" button on the subwoofer amp.... the result? Pure heaven!

I've pondered doing this for years but couldn't justify the cost for something that I thought would be a novel gimmick. Now I can't imagine sim racing any other way. What amazes me the most is how it helps me gauge the feel of the car's grip on the road, particularly in Forza 3 and F1 2010! And the wrecks?? You feel the pain of the collisions. The chair almost seems possessed during wrecks. It has really opened up an entire dimension to racing games that I never dreamed possible. There are so many subtle nuances to what vibration feedback brings to a racing game. I've got about $560 in this whole kit now, but I can say for me it was more than worth it.

I read the following statement in "Gaming Age's" review of the PS3 version of this game:

"The only Move control the game doesn't quite catch is the speed motion of the follow through. Gamer's power and speed are judged by how far the controller is pulled away from the camera, but not how fast you move through the swing. This is disheartening as everything from your placement to your slice trajectory is measured with perfection."

This sounds inconsistent with anything I've read from users or reviewers concerning the Move interface with JDPG. In fact, I see a lot of people complaining that they're afraid they are going to injure their back trying to swing the Move fast enough to generate a 100% swing. This reviewer suggests that it all boils down to the length of the backswing. Does that have a ring of truth to any of you who've actually played the game?

Yes when I played on the Tour Pro Mode you had to swing very hard, just to get 60-70% swings.
Swing speed along with length of swing determined your % (Tour Pro level, I didn't try other levels in the short time I played the game.)

I just noticed that the PS3 version of John Daly ProStroke Golf has already been marked down to $29.99. Such a drastic markdown this early on is definitely not a good sign for the game's survival.

J:

This kinda reminds me of what is happening currently with TWO.

I haven't been paying attention to what's been going on with TWO recently. I never subscribed to it as I didn't care for either the 3-click or the True Swing interface. I've just gotten to where I don't like mice for analog input devices when we've got thumbsticks, and more recently, motion controllers as options. I don't think I've touched the game in at least 8 weeks now... maybe I need to log back on and see what's happening with it. I do like its True View presentation, but that's about the only thing that stands out about it in my mind.

Yes just tried the demo, I don't understand the difficulties above amateur.

I was trying to do bad shots but there was far too much forgiveness. Also I agree with the power thing on the higher difficulty. Literally, I could generate about 60% power MAX (usually 45%!) and that was swinging as hard and as fast as I could possibly manage (a fit 20 year old male!).

I tried moving closer/further away from the camera but this didn't really help.

Any ideas on how to improve the power? And how does the weight shifting work? On the tutorial videos in-game it shows a bar going across your stance, I don't have this...

After barely being out a month? Yikes.

Just read a post from one of the devs at JDPG forum that the XBox 360 version is being delayed because they are in talks with Microsoft about adding Kinect support to that version. I can't imagine how much time would be required to add Kinect support to an already developed game (unless they've already been quietly working on it behind the scenes). I would think something like this could add about 6 months to the game development if they're starting from scratch

As poor as the game sounds now on the PS3, I do not think adding Kinect support is going to help the game whatsoever. Heck, they can't even be bothered to put up a demo of the game for the PS3 in the US....

Especially if it uses multiple putter ranges, like the PS3 version currently does. That's the biggest mystery to me about this game; why on earth would a motion controller golf game need multiple putter ranges!?

Oh, the USA demo is set for November 16th... why should there be an almost one month lag between the European and USA demos?? Unless they're trying to gussy it up to take care of some of the common complaints by incorporating patch items in this demo, I have no other explanation.

I read that JDPG's PS3 demo is now available for download. I'm anxious to see if we get any new opinions on it. Any PS3 owners grabbed it yet?

I downloaded the demo yesterday and gave it a go. I did the tutorials and the three hole quick game. I expected the worst, and was pleasantly surprised. Of course, it was on the easiest setting, (not sure if it had more difficult setting options), and I constantly hit 100% shots. The graphics are not nearly as good as TW11, but expected that. You use the Move controller to navigate much more than in TW11. It's pretty touchy when it comes to lining up shots, especially putts. I'll have to give it another go and see if it's a little easier the second time around. Some of the adjustments in terms of stance and such did not seem to be available. There was one hole where I could not figure out how to choose a longer putter since the putt was a foot uphill and I knew the putt would be terribly short. It was. The one challenge was to beat John Daly in driving which was easy to do. If the price is truly $29.95 now, I may be tempted to pick it up as a way to get my butt off the couch. For those who have a PS3 and the Move I would like to hear your impressions as well.

On the jdpsg forum the designer pointed out that they are making kinect feature available for the xbox side. So the game for xbox is delayed. I'm curious how this will turn out
