I played a day with it off, and it felt like a completely different game. Granted, I liked it.. but at the same time, I would get owned up close, where I could see easily that the other guy had auto aim on.. as he was strafing and could keep his shots coming into me.

For this reason, and this reason only, I keep auto-aim on. If others are using it, I will use it too for sake of balance. I CAN play either way, though, and enjoy the challenge and change of tactics when not using it. I still managed to get high-card many times with it off.

They made it this way so people can have a choice. It doesn't make a crappy player "better" per say. You still have to have a brain to coordinate actions, and even though those sub-par players might own someone with auto-aim off, up close... they'll never come out on top just because of auto-aim.

It's really not as significant as the auto-aim in COD4. It's really not significant.

Those that play without aim-assist probably play differently than those with it on. I believe it balances itself.

yea. it would make the game more tactical and make people have regard for the way they go about things, instead of just running and gunning.

I have to admit, though, sometimes i do like running and gunning... not that that couldnt be done (just a little differently, perhaps a more minded running and gunning)

when I did change over to no-aim assist.. I ended up playing another 6 hours, AFTER I called it quits for a night... This was in part to get used to it, and in part because it actually felt like a new experience, a new game.

I do find, or found at one time, that it was easier to get headshots.. to aim in on the head without aim assist.. as the assist seems to drag your site to the core, or I thought it did.. but I could be wrong... I'd have to try it out again. I get enough headshots now, though.

you are right, aim assist locks on to the body of the target, and then you have to raise it for the head shot... I used to play alot of rainbow6 (no aim assist on that game), and whenever i spawned, I raised my gun a bit, so I could be ready to drill someone at the approx. range I would expect to be engaged at... then if I saw someone closer or farther, I would simply adjust up or down a bit... that's what I try to do here, but since you always have a sight, or iron sights in this game, regardless of your movement speed that's kinda pointless... maybe I should turn aim assist on and see if my K/D improves or not...

I STILL THINK THEY NEED TO REMOVE THIS FEATURE FROM RANKED SERVERS!!!!

Aim assist is pretty strong at close range, once you get a lock it's gonna stay there until you kill him. AA should be removed from ranked servers.

I wonder is the fact that you get killed when you know you are round a corner because of aim assist ?

If it is locking onto you it is going to follow your direction isn't it.

I'm not sure about that P.... is there really 2-3 seconds of lag in this game? I personally have got those corner kills with aim assist on, but not with it off.... it happens to me all the time, that i hide behind a wall or giant rock and get owned from the other side... I think it has to do with the bullets "locking on to you".... aim assist is also responsible, for all those snipers using their guns like shotguns and no scoping like crazy... I had aim assist on and was no scoping a friendly support to test it... i was strafing slightly, and hit him 4 times with 4 shots no scoping with the m24... of course he wasn't moving, but i'd like to try that with it off... but then again, maybe AA doesn't apply to friendlies...

Aim Assist has never helped me as much as it sounds like in here. I have about 24 hours on multiplayer, with auto-aim on 99% of that time, and mostly it just messes me up when multiple eneimes are near the critical zone. As for CQC it probably does work for others but not for me, I still have to aim. Maybe I just don't know how to use the auto aim, I am probably better off without it. From what it sounds like is the AA works better for hip-fire, but I have rarely played in that style so far. Mostly I have been playing medium to long range. The few times I did play close range I used PDWs, and liked those fairly well, of course they seemed to have nerfed those from the BETA. In the beta i had 44/10 in one round with the UMP45, but now i only have 17 kills with that gun because it is way weak now. At like 25 meters i put almost an entire clip in someone and they ran away. The PDWs really have to be pretty close range to be effective. But they are great for that task. I just can't help myself though when I see someone running around in the open I have to shot at them, but with PDWs i am mosly just saying "here I am, shoot me sniper while i pointlessly shoot your buddy"
