It does work (in fact, it disappeared immediately even without marking the file read-only), but doesnt making that file read-only destroy the ability to gain confidence?

If you don't make it read only it will grow in size and slow down. It's a bug they would not fix.

Be that as it may, I still don't know the effect on the player confidence. Does making this file read-only affect the saving of the confidence or not? Perhaps you don't know, but maybe someone does.

It is good to have a fast game, however.

i still get offers to play bad holes after a game

the confidence feature (such as it is) still seems active for the most recent round, but making the file 'read-only' prevents writing to the file ... so no long term 'confidence' history

effect on player confidence: i know when i hit bad shots or play a hole poorly (ie course management), there's no reason for TW to track it for me

I used the fix and it worked great, but now I have a new problem. The putting grid is flat!!! It shows all greens as flat with no breaks even though the breaks are there? Can anyone help? The fix was great though faster than ever!!!!

I did the "HoleType.tcn" fix...but nothing changed, mine might be a different type of problem...my loading of holes and such is ok...but when I go to swing,I use the 3 click, I click...then it takes about8 seconds till the power bar starts to move, then I just do the 3 clicks like norm, but then it takes another 7-8 seconds till my golfer swings the club, but you don't relly see the swing ...just a short movement and the ball goes flying. the ball flies and plays normal, but just the slow response to every shot.

i tried going into players folder and my name wasnt there and when i click on another players name, it just open wordpad and has symbols and thats it, no other folders in the players category

i tried it and i still have a problem, my sky is plaid and trees are white sometimes, but not always, its very choppy at times and sometimes it works great and flawless. any ideas? thanks

if you have a created player named XXX
then there is a player folder named XXX, and the other associated files
(ie XXX.plr)

maybe you're using vista and aren't giving yourself permission to see the folders or something ?

graphics - sounds like integrated video card or low end one
try lowering video settings in TW

i figured out the folder and it didnt effecct my game at all.

i have GeForce 7900 GS what else would you need to know?
i have tried the settings all the way down, up and in the middle. tried turning off sounds, alot of details. i dont know. i play cod4 with video settings maxed out and have no problems ever. the video is choppy, flashes black, trees and grass are white, sky is plaid. and then it freezes.

the GS7900 is not a supported video card (not listed in the readme file in the Support folder)

others have had problems using it

maybe try different video card drivers?
older ones may work better than newer ones

if graphics are choppy etc as you described - it's the card/drivers
if game play is choppy - then the settings should do something

did you run the game from start up without using the /NOINTRO shortcut?
the game needs to do that to recognize the hardware properly

Is this solution just for dual core issues? Or is this for any computers running slow? My friend has an old processor but 256 mb of ram and a 256 mb vid card. It ran fine on my old computer that have the same specs as his, but his computer is extremely slow. We cant figure out why. Would you recommend this?
