I disagree. Don't think marketing had as much to do with it. I agree with most of the common criticism of game. The missions were too easy. Only took a few days for some people to beat the game. I have a friend who is a lv 10 in multiplayer on GTA4 but can't complete the last mission. only has 300 or so ach pts for the game. EA has done very well with their sports games. I completely agree with the EA motto "if its in the game". The ach p pts are also more difficult to earn in their sports games(one good thing I got from GF2 was alot of easy ach pts). They are the Kings of sports games. I think their online Pogo game has thousands if not millions of users(my wife and others I know plays Pogo).
EA has done some great things but I don't think the Godfather 2 was one of the great ones. I think alot of people would agree based on the game's rating. I would disagree with the common ratings (7 out of 10 I think). I would give the game a rating of 6. However, I would give most of EA sports games a rating of 9. Would give them a 10; but, think they should do better with some in regard to adding new features and making improvements based on player feedback from previous years.
I think other complaints about game have been posted on forum and you are probably already familiar with them.
I think the maps are too small, no vehicles in multiplayer, and only one multiplayer mode to chose from (team deathmatch).
Team Killing and other unsporting conduct has ruined the popularity of multiplayer (xbox live) play. The team deathmatch only mode and the way it was designed has caused the team killing problem I think. If there were a regular deathmatch as in other games, people who don't get along well with others or are not a "team" type player would have another option.
Alot of people have suggested a boot or kick option on this forum(not on this topic but I don't think I'm off topic because I'm replying to why it is hard to find good matches) Being a gamer for years who has played alot of shooter, sports, and other games knows that the kick/boot option doesn't always work well anyway. On one game I play, it takes several votes from other players in pregame screen to boot the person. Sometimes, this takes alot of time, and you can only boot the person before the game (Think alot of games are like that). If a person is a singer (instead of a team killer), the person will remain quiet til game starts. If you have played that person before, you then have to try to convince strangers (strangers or people you haven't played with before which happens alot on popular games with thousands of users) that this person will start singing once game begins. Later players can mute the person but it still disrupts the game because they have to take the time to do that. Meanwhile they may lose progress in game because of it). Think host having a friendly fire off option as in some games would be better. But there is no perfert solution to people who disrupt games( whether by being unsporting, quiting, or lagging). Kind of like the drug problem in our country. The authorities can try different ideas but the problem continues.
One last note. The leaderboard shows time played in hours I think. Is also the reason I believe it is only a few regular players (compared to other games). My real gamertag doesn't appear on leaderboard. Haven't played that much. But played enough to give my opinion I think.
