Amon Amarth is not viking metal. Lyrics do not determine genres. Some of my favorite viking metal bands are:

Bathory (their viking stuff)
Myrkgrav
Sigtyr
Skyforger
Thyrfing
Frostmoon

I thought Amon Amarth was Melo Death with Viking inspired Lyrics?

Edit: As i typed that Twilight on the thunder god started playing over my headphones and it pretty much blew out my eardrums....

Ahh,metalheads and our neverending arguing with sub-genres...did u know that every band is entitled to state their own genre of metal...we have heavy,doom,fantasy,melodic,symphonic,progressive,gore,viking,black, death,trash,Power,NWOBHM, & on & on & on....meh..it's all good as long as it's true and it's all metal ! \m/

I also like Norse inspired Black/Death metal

Try Battlelore,I like them very much

Unfortunately all I got is the talented Enslaved but this forum should spruce up my knowledge of Viking Metal indeed! Always had a great interest in Norse Mthology but currently have little knowledge. Should be mandatory schooling!
