Hi... I've been trying for 2 days now since I collected the DVD from an EA event two days ago because I pre-ordered it. Its the Special Edition.

HALPPPPPP

Yes, I'm getting the exact same problem. Mine is the "Levels3.cab" file and theres no problem copying the disc to the hard drive, I've tried it a long time ago and it still gives me the problem.

I've tried a clean boot, removing some of my ram in case its bad ram, installing it locally (copying the files into the hard drive), installing it in safe mode (can't start installation because Windows Installer isn't working in safe mode?), I've disabled all my emulation software (daemon tools alcohol) but it still didn't work so I've uninstalled them and tried again and it still didn't work. I've tried a billion other stuff and it still doesn't work so please help me! PLEASE

I'm on Vista 32-bit.

The thing is that... THE GAME INSTALLS FLAWLESSLY ON XP (SAME CD - I went to try it on my desktop and there was no problem.[my desktop is XP and its really old and stinks it doesn't even meet minimum requirements but the game CAN install!)

So it obviously can't be the CD being corrupt or anything. If theres anything I suspect its that Windows Installer 4.0 and Crysis have problems together... I've tried deleting the InstallShield in C:\Program Files\Common Files since thats probably an older version of Windows Installer because I've found that the installer for Crysis is copied over to C:\Windows\installer.

I can't reinstall Windows Installer 4.0. Nothing anywhere on googles gives information on that except that we can't download Windows Installer 4.0, the only way to get it is by buying Vista which is what we have which is why were using Windows Installer 4.0 which is probably the problem here.

Please help help please! I've tried installing it so many times I can remember my CD-Key now.

I've emailed EA support yesterday and after hours of waiting, they replied to me and told me today and told me to copy the files over to the hard disk (Again, which doesn't work) and try installing again which is what I'm doing now so that when it fails I can tell them confidently that I've done it and I need a solution.

Also, I have 40GB remaining so space isn't a problem as well.

Don't re-load your CRYSIS. It won't work.

I bought the DVD and am not the only one: Cabinet file error!

It is an issue with utilizing the .cab files. Can't believe the Crytek developers didn't test it...

The main issue remains within the Vista platform however.

EA: What is the solution???

yeh I just followed what EA support said, I've copied it to the hard disk again and named it Disk Images this time and created another folder in that and called it Disk1 and pasted everything in there and tried again and it failed again.

"It is an issue with utilizing the .cab files. Can't believe the Crytek developers didn't test it...

EA/Crytek we hope you look into that first because its probably the problem and not a faulty CD (though probably for some people) or some other thing causing the problem...

Is this issue only with Vista? I obviously have the same as everybody except I am using the downloaded copy. It's terrible to waste valuable NK hunting time downloading! Argh! Come on EA you guys can't figure out something stupid as this?

Anyways has anybody figured a tweak around this? I have tried multiple .cab editors and repair applications but nothing worked. Those even said they were corrupted which rules out any hardware/OS/disc issue.

Yeah Keracker, I'm in the same boat as you. Got the game through EA's download service and it keeps yelling at me about Object~1.cab.

I finally gave up with trying to figure it out and am currently redownloading the file (10 hours to go! Yipee!).

If for whatever reason this still doesn't fix the problem, I'm going to strength punch someone in the face... no joke.....really, I'm totally serious

Downloading again won't fix it. Waiste of your time.

I have 3 computers. Installed the DVD without issues on XP, however, the .Cabinet file errors [Error 1335] occur ONLY in Vista.
Crysis is not meant to be played on Vista yet. I'm sure they will patch it withing a few days.

I will try to copy the installed XP files over to Vista and see if it works. If it does, I will post.

Nope, has games for window vista logo on the box. I pay the store 10 dollars for a pre order, wait a month then the store does not put it on the shelf till today. instead of when it was released. They even looked it up on there own website and it said it was on the shelf. Now I have a 50$ reciept in my wallet that says I'm stupid. I was in the beta for a month, played the single player demo and bragged about it at work. lol I look real smart now.

I just also did an install on a 32 bit XP system. Copied all over to the Vista 64 computer and it works.

Ofcourse, it doesn't utilize the 64 bits [but does Direct X10].

Proof: Vista 64 [and for most Vista 32 as well] doesn't let you install this program.

So now I can at least play [be it in medium settings].

I know that Vista is a bad operating system but didn't know that the developers didn't look into making this brand new game operate under Vista.

Conclusion: If you really want to play the game, go to someone with an old XP operating system, install it and rip it on your Vista machine. At least it will hold you over till they come out with an ANTI-Cabinet file error installer!

Ok so i transferred all of the files off of the dvd onto my desktop and had no errors, however i figured with this whole thing being screwy i might as well try the whole setup and replace file thing... So i did, and after a few attempts of replacing every file the setup said was corrupted with a fresh copy from my friends computer (in which i copied all of the files off the dvd onto his desktop as well and transferred it with an external hard drive to my computer) it worked only took 12 hours out of my day to get it all working... : \

oh and btw... we both have Vista Ultimate 32-bit

hey guys, im worried about this because i went past the decrypting without no problem and then when i try to extract the game it goes to 15% and then says "unpack failed", i re-downloaded the game and still, the issue remains. Can anyone tell me where do the files go so i can try to extract it manually without using the ea intaller?
