My name is Pyro and I'm an alchoholic. Wait, wrong forum.
The people who get angry about darkslides+realism think of OG and what it promised, how it'd be the Tony killer, it'd stick to realism, and they like that idea. As 2 got more unreal, they wanted to go back to the good ol' days. Darkslides and underflips to them is a step toward Skate being Tony Hawk and losing it's individuality.

youtube rodney mullen. it is not unrealistic, just uncommon. people want stuff like better places to skate and more realistic physics, not uncommon tricks. i for one love darkslides, but now people will be putting em in there vid excessively.

Its not that darkslides arent realistic. Rather its the fact that time developing the darkslide to work in game could have been used to work on new tricks that are actually worth it; tricks that provide us gameplay opportunities. Lame animated darkslides arent going to do anything but attract the TH fan that doesnt want to spend 150 bucks on some lame peripheral.

Why is it Always mullen?, Are people forgetting that jerry Hsu and Geoff Rowley have both done the darkslide
Might want to put Boulala in the list also

I know the darkslide will be the first trick i try in S3

I'd rather have a bunch of uncommon tricks than realistic physics... I'd rather be able to replicate one of my real life parts than have physics that make keeping stuff low easy...

What is wrong is that they add the focus to it. So at one part of the game, you probably HAVE to do a darkslide to be able to continue with career mode. That's what suck.

I've seen less than 10 darkslide during my 8 years of skateboarding, why? Because they are ugly.
End of story.

I'd rather have a catch function than underflips and darkslides.

It comes back to Mullen because he did it first and the best...

I'm glad darkslides are in the game, because they can be done in real life.
Who knows, maybe they'll be as difficult in the game as they are in real life.
But overall it's just a video game, if you want a realistic skating experience then go out and skate.
If video games were 100% realistic then no one would play, because video games help people get away from realism.

They're a novelty. They're circus tricks. Skaters just don't do them as part of their daily fun time. They're a pain in the * to do, and they rip the hell out of your board and grip. Plus, you have to put grip on your tail (right where you tailslide) for traction so you can't tailslide any more. They don't look particularly good when you slide them... What more do you want?

As far as including them in s3, it makes the trailer look like they're trying to beef up the kook aspect, which then makes it look like we're going to get Tony Hawk Skate 3. Besides, there are still so many tricks that could be included that aren't novelty tricks and would be super fun. What about Impossibles, no comply filps, speed shove its (no pop shove it), forward filps, front foot impossibles, slide to grind tricks (i.e. noseslide to crooked grind, or lipslide to tailslide without ollieing)?

I would much rather have those tricks than darkslides any day, because they're tricks that I do on the daily and they're fun. Darkslides, not so much.

Well, I don't know why so many people are getting so worked up over them, but I'm glad they've been added. I say keep the tricks coming but don't loose sight of fixing what's wrong with some of the tricks we have now. (I'm looking at you, no-comply.)

I disagree with some that say it's not a legitimate trick. I mean, if skateboarding is an art as well as a sport, who's to say what is and isn't legitimate. Besides, as has already been mentioned, people besides Mullen have done them, including a few of the pros we already have in the game. I don't see a problem with adding them in.

You can't youtube it, because he did it in a photo not in a video, but Gonz was the first to do them. Caveman darkslide a 4-5 stair in '90-'91.

I'm not going to let the skateboarding pop culture tell me what's a "real" trick or a circus trick...

I see it like my music or any artform, no limits, just express your creativity...

I should have been more clear, mullen was the first to Ollie into it, on film...
