i have played against/with most of those guys. most all ive played with are that good. the difference is the shot clock. you dont have 5 minutes to calculate your shot.... and then if you blow it... restart.
i just play a tourney once and i expect at least a -20 to -22 with out any hole outs. and i generally get that every time. i usually play each shot in about 20 seconds and dont reference any type of charts. so i can see taking the time to play a couple times and reference notes on each hole someone could hole 5+ shots and shoot a -28ish pretty easy. look on gamernet im sure there are some posted rounds. if your on ps3 i have a -16 @banff front 9.

If you are getting average PGA scores your doing great, keep practicing, get yourself up to well tuned expert clubs and you to might just be able to reach such high scores.
I can. I have stock controllers and can hit 122% and perfectly straight on every swing and there's not a chance in heck that I'd ever get a -35. I have tuned expert clubs and maxed out stats, too! In a 25MPH wind it's impossible to hit the ball where you want it to every time, period.

your thoughts are noted. but here is what you guys claiming 'cheaters' , just dont get:
its not about 122% and hitting it perfectly straight every time. its about leaving yourself a chance to get it in the hole instead of having to putt. if you can hit 122% with maxed clubs and hit it straight every time... you should almost automatically get a -18 or better (if you cant you need to practice more). give yourself a couple eagles and a few hole outs and maybe an ace and your in the mid/high -20s. then play the course a few times in a row, know where you messed up..... and there you have it. -30. im not saying its easy, just if you dont put that kind of effort into it you wont come close to those scores.
most ive ever gotten is -36 @ wolf creek but i had 2 aces and 2 double eagles if remember right, i just dont remember, but it was -36. and i didnt map anything.
edit: for example, i just busted someones bay hill whites clip. i got a -23 on no hole outs, a missed putt, and a missed green. so i shoulda got -25 with no hole outs. it was on my first try and 10ish winds. AND im not as good as those guys that get complained about.

Today while at a friends house I got to play around with a ThumbMonkey 360 Tiger Woods mod controller and they are not all that. Yea you can hit the ball straight nice no slice. We got the best expert driver we could buy and tuned it to the max and tried it out, the small amount of distance increase was not worth the trouble. The only thing that was really nice was putting in pro mode and hitting the ball straight.
I played a round with my friend using a stock controller and he was using the mod and he still couldn't do any better than me using the stock controller. We then switched controllers, me using the mod and he was using the stock and the same results, the ending scores were still within just a few shots.
We both then determined that the most important thing is in the accuracy of your approach to the green and the pin. Yea you want to be able to hit the fairway but I found that you don't need to kill the ball with 122% power, I just use what it takes to get there and by doing this I have no problem hitting the ball straight most of the time. The trick is to learn how to judge your shots based on wind, distance to the pin, elevation, the lie, and your clubs capabilities.
Final note, don't waste your money on a TW Mod controller.

In other words, if you consistently shoot -25 or better, you can only play people with similar scores. In other words no more "open" amateur matches. For fairness is a lesser player wants to get the pants beat off them then they can play in a higher tier. But a higher tier player cannot go into a lower match of any kind. Similar to what is now only more closely matched.
Sounds like the standard handicap system used on every golf course in the world. Way to go I think.

Soooooo you people that say you can't cheat; how do you explain ...
Ps3 > LIve Tourney's > Fan Appreciation > Halloween jackpot ... The leader, "Deep_Rough", with -38 through 18 holes?!?!?!
For those that can't do the math, that's a eagle on EVERY hole with a couple of double eagles thrown in for good measure. How the F**k is the possible without some form of aid or cheat??

there is a glitch for the live weather at banff where u can get zero winds in the rain....or if u get zero winds anywhere all u have to do is no what to hit on every hole and u can literally make like every shot

They won't explain because that gives away their secret. And it isn't just being good. When I got TW2010 I was looking forward to online play. I played most of the single player stuff to hone my skills. Then I tried the tourneys. And to my dismay, my ability to shoot -18 to at best and rarely -22 was nowhere enough to place very high on the leader boards. Then these people say it is just a matter of club tuning and practice. I have tuned clubs every which way. And never have come close to the distances I see Gamernet challenge drives during the round. A couple of times I maxed out my distance in tuning and even though I couldn't hit the ball straight most of the time, when I did I still fell 50 yards short of the long drives. Where does the extra yardage come in?
The other day the winner of one of the 9 hole community challenges shot a -20. That is better than many people can shoot in 18. And I get the same feeling skill didn't have a lot to do with it.
This is to EA. You want to make it fair and fun for everyone. You did the right thing by limiting it to one try in the tier tournaments, it needs to be one try in all the online tournaments. You need to get rid of post hit ball manipulation. No spinning and the ball is struck. Fix the forward rolling flop shot. The one were you set your flop distance, switch to pitch, set the forward roll, switch back to flop and shoot. A pitch is a pitch and flop is a flop.
Make the amateur tournaments for amateurs. How? No live wind or weather. And no "expert" pin placements. Save those for "pro" and "tour pro". Leave the putt preview on for everything but tour pro. The game looks good but it isn't 3D. Without the preview it is really just a guess what is happening between the putter and the hole.
It is very easy to lose interest in the online game when at the top of every leader board is the same few names and the same high scores. Any more I pretty much check the boards to see what outrageous high score of the main 3 players is at the top then go back to playing Halo or something like that.
You want me to invest in TW2011? Make the online aspect a whole lot more balanced.

For Tomarse82 or Lulz4Food, if you interested in seeing a score put up like that live hit me up sometime after 11pm est and i'll show you. It's not cheating unless you want to call my Intec controller an aid & my turbo button cheating. If that's the case then don't bother, but if your interested in seeing a round like that in living color i'm more than willing to do it. cccgolfer knows what Banff is like & to be honest i was ticked because i had two 2 inch glitches that stopped a perfect round -40.

It isn't cheating to count cards in Vegas but you get kicked out for doing it. It is a matter of unfair advantage. The turbo button is an unfair advantage. The sticks modified to shoot straight only is an unfair advantage. And before you even start about how anyone can do that, you miss the point entirely. Let's say everyone gets the same advantage, modded stick, whatever, then what are you guys going to do? Suddenly you don't have the advantage anymore. Probably won't be nearly as interesting for you.
The point is this. I don't care about your mapping and modded controller or anything else. What I care about is the game and EA allows this in online play. I know you find it hard to believe but there are players who actually want to play the game the way it is intended to be played and work their way to the top of the boards with their skill. The way the game is made there is no chance for that. It is simply a matter of those who take advantage and those who don't. The ones who take advantage can say their accomplishment is gaming the system by taking advantage. The ones who don't can say they got where they are by their skill. I would rather be the latter.
There is a lot of difference between being able to say "I am the best when it comes to gaming the system" and "I am the best because of my skill." One gives you a sense of accomplishment while the other is pretty much meaningless.

I agree entirely. I don't much care if people want to use an aftermarket controller or if they want to spend time mapping courses - if that's your bag then I'm glad for you but I would like to play against players that use the same equipment as I do. Perhaps it's time that stock controller users created a league of their own. Not sure how one goes about doing that but I'm willing to try and set one up via facebook if anyone's interested? I'm sure EA would create a separate stat database if there were enough of us.

This is a good idea, and I think there are quite a few custom leagues out there already. That being said, I can't really find many out there.
I've had lots of experience with leagues and tournament sites and have some webspace and a domain. I'd be happy to toss something up if enough people were interested.

Well, let's make a post and see whose interested. If we get enough, I'll gladly setup something.
As a side note, don't get your hopes up about EA adding stat tracking for anything other than their main database, it's almost impossibly unlikely they would support it.
