You cannot use the CD-key again, you need the account information.
You can retrieve it, but only if:

-you remember the username of your account;
-you have access to the email account you used to register the account.

Go to the EA website and use the "forgot my password" option.

..."shahid", uh? Hope you won't use the jihad jeep too much!

I have my Account information and I am not able to login the game. Runnerplayer is the account that was created for 2141 and Runner2day for my BF2 account. I am able to access BF2 but not 2142 I am just re-installing and I get the error " The CD Key has already been registered with an Account" .. which is correct Its the one listed above

Hey there, after a year or two of inactivity, I too have reinstalled the game on my sons computer and I get the same "CDkey has already been registered..." I admit that I am confused a bit with my EA account name and such, but I have tried a few options and still cant get past this. I bought the game new and have the original disk and "manual" with the key on it if I need to verify with someone.
Thanks for your help

I'm having the exact same problem. How do I contact support without having to wait for ages on phone?

Seems like they are more eager to sell new games than to give support as long as they get the money.

I bought this game back in 2005, it's on DVD. I have the manual with cd-key and the receipt is still in the case. I'm looking at them.

After not playing the game for years, but using the same gamertag since, ever! I decide to install 2142 on my new PC running W7x64. I'm then told by the software that the cd-key is invalid? So I follow the advice of the EA support and add the x9xxx number to the left most side of the value in the registry. With the value applied I get a message while logging in (paraphrasing) "This cd-key is already registered. Enter a valid cd-key".

So I 'call' support in 2010(they had a phone support that didn't hang up on you after directing you to EA.help.com). I talked with a female rep about my cd-key. She looked at the name registered to the key and it was not the handle I would have used(she 'could not' tell me the gamertag now associated to the account). And I can't think of any online game were I have not been "pdxmark". I've used it since 1999 on pc and various platforms from then on; and have the gamertag linked to its own email. I've never lost an email account, or had one stolen/hacked. I have no emails about my 2142 registration, because "I" never registered it back in 2005(when you could choose not to do those things). I ask the rep if she could look into account history for my gamertag and she gave me all of my games that are registered and said that if I had not registered the game back in 2005, then EA Support would have no record of my gamertag being associated with the cd-key. This may or may not be truth, I don't know their registration system.

What gets me is that my cd-key, that I'm looking at as I write this, has just simply been used by someone else! How did they get it? I've always had my games in safe keeping. No one is going to look that deep through my closet for games cd-keys. The door is locked because my gun safe is also in that closet/pantry. I don't have any kids and I've never brought it out at a LAN. I've been in the same house since I bought the game in 2005.

So I'm perplexed! How does my cd-key just get used by someone else? EA, I've read that key-generators can accidentally generate cd-keys that were published by EA, and can be used if the keys were not registered by the purchaser. If this is the case, why don't you sell me a new key for $7 to $10. Cause there in no way in heck I'm giving up $24 for a new key!

I payed retail from Gamestop(eww) for 2142, so I feel unhappy about this hole issue and really don't feel like buying any more work from this publisher until I can get a reasonable response. Other then; "sorry, do you have any more questions"?

Made a mistake and need to clarify it before anyone tries to rip me apart for it, but the receipt is dated Friday December 7, 2006. I did not buy the game in 2005 before its release.

...as apparently this thread has gone with a single (somewhat unsatisfactory) response since March of last year.

However, I've got the same issue happening to and it would be awesome if someone would address it because it's clearly not my fault and I paid for the game.

When I start the game I pass through the movies to the Account login screen at which point I'm prompted to download an update. The update fails, of course, just as soon as the game minimizes to taskbar. After maximizing it I'm staring at the account login screen. My login attempts fail with "The CD key has already been registered with an account."

The great thing about this is it only tells me this when I get the account password correct. If it's incorrect, I'm told the password doesn't match the account information on the EA server.

...nice.

I logged into Origin, downloaded the Northern expansion and on attempt to install it can't find BF2142 installed.

All that said, I need some assistance getting back into the game.
