They don't make the schedules the year before. They make them a couple years before so maybe some of the teams they thought would be good when they scheduled them aren't so good the year they play them. Also a lot of teams would rather play an Ohio State or USC etc. because they're a BCS school and if you beat them it's huge news and if you lose it's not the end of the world, BUT if you beat Boise people will say you're suppose to and if you lose well.... then people will criticize you harder.

what they need to do is take the Conference winners from ALL the 'undesirable' Conferences such as the WAC etc.. and make the Top 10 Teams in the Nation choose to play them or 'Pick out of a Hat' to see who they get to play...that way, teams like Boise would get at least 1 game per year against a Top 10 team to see how they measure up

A small tournament would solve everything. SI makes a new bracket after each week of what it would look like. Heres how it looked last week. Its perfect imo.

In the NFL that's true, but definately not in college lol. No matter the circumstances, a team like Western Kentucky is not going to beat a team like Florida.

College football is so full of crap now. Everyone says how good people are without even playing each other to find a real champ. With all the calls going UF and Bama's way, how can you not see that the SEC is trying to get more money from the BCS. There are so many double standards to the rules that it's sickening. Blount nails a Bronco talking crap and mouths off to the fans. He is rightfully suspended for multi amount of games. Spikes nearly blinds a man and he gets half a game? Yeah sure sitting out the whole game makes it better. Please the BSU Bronco can still play football. That Bulldog almost lost his ability to see his own kids. We let the media pick out the champs rather than the players. The AD's of the big schools are to scared to take on the contenders because they'll get a free pass.
That's why I love the NFL.
- The league sets the schedule.
- The playoffs give you a chance to prove you're the champs.
- We don't need the media and there so-called expertise to choose the Super Bowl for us. Sure they can pick out the MVP but like that has any credibility. Until defensive players start getting more awards vs. the QB's and RB's, those awards are jokes. Media football knowledge = avg. homecoming queen knowledge. They only know the person in the endzone. Even if the score is 10-7 the offense is all they know. The last time a defensive player was MVP was in 1986. There have been plenty of great defensive players since then but like I said, all they know is QB's and RB's.
The only thing I wish the NFL had from college football is the pageantry.

Not that I disagree with having a college football playoff system, but to do this they would have to GREATLY de-value the bowls themselves......and we all know that not only will they not allow this to happen (over tradition, as well as other things) but MONEY made from these "Bowls" would greatly dimminish. And that is a HUGE reason that the playoff system is still a ways off from being imprinted.
Also, to have a playoff system you would probably have to do away with conference champinoships for the most part too which is something else that boosters wouldn't support. Theres too much of a mess right now to make a college playoff system.
the BEST way I've heard to do this, is to take the FOUR winning teams from the four BIGGEST bowls, and have them play a small tournement to see who comes out as the winner. It makes sense to me, because at that point, you're taking the winners between 8 total top teams, and making them play possibly TWO extra games...and you still get to have the Bowls be meaningfull at the same time (possibly even MORE meaningfull given the fact of the implications). The other thing they would have to do is, start the Bowl playing earlier too, that way, you don't have a team taking FOUR weeks off before playing a big game. Have ONE bi-week after the regular season, and then start the MAJOR Bowls.....instead of having them start 3 to 4 weeks later.
Thats the best version I've ever heard pitched, because it pretty much keeps everything the same, but adds only 2 more games (possibly).....AND it doesn't automaticaly designate ONE bowl out of the major ones as the NC bowl, it leaves it open to whoever makes it the furthest.

Lets be real, that team is good but they would not beat any of the top teams... if they were in the SEC, they would be 3-7
