Yes, by supporting both "real golf" and "video game" modes, there will be the danger of creating an even bigger divide in the types of players playing the game. But I think this would be compensated by the greater number of players who would be attracted to playing. More choices should equal more players. Right now, if you play "real golf" rules, you have no chance of competing with the best players using all available features.

Hi brianlevine; cant´t hesistade to drop an little argument in the ring. I respect you and your Real Golf Attitude, but how for heaven´s sake you will acchieve that with only the same Wii Remote Control. Wouldn´t you need diffrent ones just to feel the difference between drivers, woods, irons etc and their diffrent weights and lofts and lenghts. I have seen a while ago a golfclub set to be used for the PS2, but even that wouldn´t be real golf. I played today three rounds in playing the pros at seshuan, actually I´m at rank 6(Par -12) and have one round to go. That´s not realistic at all cause my normal swing is Standard. There will be no realism in this game, never ever.
CU on the course maybe

I have no allusions about this game being a perfect golf simulator. But I've played it both ways (using all the game features and playing as real golf) and I enjoy the real golf experience a lot more. Again, I'm not knocking anyone or saying this is the only way people should play. I'm just trying to give those of us who like playing this way a way to play that gives us a level playing field.

Frankly, most players who've tried real golf rules enjoy the experience, but don't play it in order to compete.

Why isn't it growing? Maybe it's just me, but when I pick an online amateur tournament, I shouldn't see -28 to -30 scores. Someone tell me the online community can't manupulate their scores and shotmaking(?) I refuse to believe (as others have politely told me) that there is no manipulation to this play environment... I played one tourney today, and the other toon eagled or birdied every hole. If I am new, which I am, why do I even want to try?

Good point. Should a ranked player even be allowed to play the amateur tourney?

i will refer to the late grt bobby jones on this one. he was an amatuer who won proffessional major championships.he was still allowed to play amatuer events after winning these. as the gteatest player of his time he wasnt punished for being good.

Not questioning that, but I know that if I was a fairly new player trying to play in an online tournament, and I saw top scores of -28, I might be a bit discouraged.

brian my opinion on the daily trny scores being so high is ea s fault for allowing unlimited redos before posting the score. my personal best has been -26 and i only do one and done. on avg i prob shoot -22 playing them just once and posting my score.

lol good one i will say that when i first started playing them i was shooting -10to -12. i kept practicing and as i got better my scores got better. practice is what it takes.no feeling sorry here for players that dont want to put the practice in to get better. there is just to much info on this forum for new players to read and practice to get better.if they choose not to take this info and practice it they should not complain about the scores.im am not competitive with -22 in these trnys but it is fun trying.

Even I´m not a great player so far, in tournaments I begin to use the preview shots more and more. I chip on green cause with the prewiev function i can try and try an dtry until i adjusted my shot til it´s in.
I agree to all of those that say: FOUL!!. When you start a tourney you should either be able to save in game andt hen contiunue or have just try shot the whole 18 holes. No restarts no more (and even with that i can´t belive in -25).

EA has already stated that there will be no chip tracing from the green next year. I suspect that they will limit previews to one per shot (which I personally think is one too many ). Another solution for online play is to limit people to 10 seconds per shot.

All I can say is that when I shoot a -10, I feel pretty dang good about myself.

I have to chime in as well. i have seen all those "awesome" scores on the tourneys and i thought WTF !!!
with numerous trys possible to get a "rediculous" score the whole idea of golf is jeopardized.
in golf its very simple like in sim play. you hit the ball and hope for the best. even spinning after the ball is gone is foul.
thats why i wont compete in the tourneys. i dont have the time to play a course 15 times until my score fits in with the best.
today i shot a 52 on doral in our own lil private league. online and competitive. thats my personal best and i am proud of it. if i had had mulligans and diff tries i would prolly/definitely get i the mid 40s. but thats fake and not worth my time.
just my 2 cents.
