I got Downfall with my ULE.

It's not Oscar material by any stretch of the imagination but it shouldn't be missed by any DS fan.

I wish they had gone the route Blood: The Last Vampire went. The visual style would have fit the Dead Space Universe perfectly. As it is, the movie was fair, but clearly a rush job. Why else choose that style?

As for content, it was irritating having events in the anime not mesh with the comics or the game 100%.

I'd like to know who put the marker into storage during the anime timeline so that I could dig it out again during the game. Kine certainly didn't do it. His plan was to destroy the ship or drop the marker back on the surface.

I've got more qestions, but others around here have already posed most of them.

I agree completely. I am early in the game and am wondering how much of it is cannon in the game. I think i found the captain in the medical area.

I think most of it is cannon though I'm sure there are some things that won't match up. I think they do a pretty good job with matching up comments from the ship with from the comic. Like when the crew comments about how things are getting bad down on the colony and P-SEC is handling it, or after planet crack everything then goes to hell in a handbasket on the colony. Nice little, subtle connections between Downfall and the comic. It isn't much, but it was what I liked.

I liked the comic much better, I watched the Downfall though, just to have a complete picture of the story. Was not really the type of anime I would like, but it was bearable.

The comic was definately better then the Anime, but the Anime still did a good job getting the story across... I just hope if they take dead space the bigscreen, they don't let Uwe Boll produce it or else it'll turn into some really cheesy horror flick that's only tied to the game by a title and some random 2 second gameplay clips between scenes just like that giant steaming pile of crap known as House of the Dead.

I LOVED the comics, I read it as it is and I have all the animated issues in HD. Animated comic is truly a masterpiece. The atmosphere it creates with camera movements, superb voice acting and even properly chosen/created music is sick, that is totally sick. Making a small bonus THIS good is unbelievable dedication and pure talent in my eyes!

I have to repeat again - story is as good as any classical sci-fi movie, but the voice acting is seriously better than most of the games and that's not even an exaggeration. The audio tracks suits perfectly, it enhances the feeling but doesn't stick out. ISSUE 2 episode at the P-Sec HQ with Bram and Marla, when she tries to decipher the markings (6:00 start precisely) has an amazing atmospheric tune, I've would have wanted that track as an mp3 if I could. Though with the comic it feels a lot deeper.

I dare to say that animated comic created a much deeper atmosphere than the game. And by saying this I don't compare them really thought it might look like that, I love them both, they are really complimenting each other. Downfall wasn't as good for me, and I did watch it like 3 times if I'm not mistaken. The main reason is that some of the characters, most of design and situations don't really match up with the same things in game. Characters in the comic are worked out so well, you really know who is who and what personality he/she possesses. Such traits usually go with high class RPGs, books and rarely movies.

And this is just a bonus comic
I'm still ecstatic about it!

That's a MUST SEE, seriously, You can freely download it from www.gametrailers.com Search for Dead Space, choose it and then from the list of different Dead Space related trailers/reviews/previews etc use HD versions of the Dead Space Animated Comic Issue. There's a download button and You can even choose what player You want to download the video for. 1st issue didn't download for me as a quick time if I'm not mistaken, but every other issue was HD quick time, looked pretty good on full screen

Actually here's a direct link to http://www.gametrailers.com/game/dead-space/5563 to DS videos page.
I'm pretty sure if anyone liked comics as they were, these animated comics gonna blow Your mind

Enjoy!

I jsut wanted to point that Downfall is not an anime, it was a western animation, anime is populary used to design japanese animation...

By the way it would have been awesoem to see an anime movie of Dead Space, knowing the japanese and their gorish and graphical ways it would ahve been impresive.

My thoughts exactly. Plus, the movie does not follow canon (in some parts)
