xbox.UCLANUPE wrote:There are plenty of UFC fighters they could put Brock against. The main problem is many of them would whup up on him and he's a lil fragile right now. They need to feed him some tomato cans to build his confidence back up, while getting him some take punches in the face training/toughness.
Really?
Name them. Herring was still pretty good when he fought Lesnar and he didn't whup Lesnar, neither did Mir (a tough HW himself) or Couture.
Cain is about the only one I can see 'whupping' him, because I've already seen him 'whup' him. JDS might be able to, but who knows how he would react if Lesnar were able to get his hands on him- Cain was able to fend Lesnar off here because his wrestling canceled out Brocks- JDS would not have that advantage.
Carwin did a good job hurting Lesnar when they fought, but who wound up winning that fight?
Big Nog, I doubt it. Maybe he could recapture some magic, I wouldn't put it past him because he is well rounded..and he's Big Nog. But either way you slice it, I couldn't see him 'whupping' Lesnar.
Mir? Pffft. I'm a Mir fan, and you know what? Unless Mir is able to land that massive over-hand immeditaely against Lesnar, I think Lesnar gNp's Mirs face off again.
Roy Nelson? Meh, again, Mir factor here if he can land a big hand, but I wouldn't count on that. And I think Nelson would struggle heavily against Lesnar in the clinch game. The fight could go either way, but I don't see Roy 'whupping' Lesnar.
Honestly, I think Lesnar will be fine. He has holes in his game and he now knows without a doubt that he needs to double down on his striking. But Cain is a damn beast, this fight with Brock proved that. He did what Carwin (with his massive hands and power) couldn't do to prove he's a beast; he put Brock down and finished him with emphasis.
I'd say, as of right now, Cain is the only guy in the UFC that would most definately put the whup down on the Brock *ss.
Most other HW fights I can think of for Brock, are either close, or Brock whupping some serious *ss.

lesnar should take time away from fighting to actually get way better at his stand up game before getting in the octagon to fight again... as much as i hate lesnar and think he was never really good at all just big in size doesn't take away the fact that if you are liked by dana white you stay...i'll give lesnar credit where deserved he's got outstanding wrestling and that's as far as it goes, i knew that velasquez would pull this off cuz lets face it velasquez is more well rounded... nelson and jds could have done the same thing to lesnar if they had the chance even pat barry would destroy lesnar imo because lesnar had a suspect chin in the couture fight, plain and simple lesnar can't take a hit and these four in particular would smack lesnar silly: nelson, barry, jds, and velasquez already did this feat... lesnar needs time off to get alot better if he is actually serious about fighting for the title again for a chance to win...

Meh, I don't know. Dude is 5-2 in his first 7 fights, and he's done that fighting some top-10's at HW.
He can learn on the job. He has already shown some improvement since he started out. Its like I said earlier, with him winning the belt so fast (something I would agree should never have happened), this was bound to be the result at some point. You can't be as young as he is in this sport and have to plow through #1 contenders non-stop after your 3rd-4rth fight and not be expected to lose at some point.
He's already been tested by some of the best the UFC has to offer, and he's failed only 2 times out of 7 total fights. And I would say, for a guy only 7 fights into his MMA career, 6 of those fights were serious tests.
I personally think the only 2 guys in the UFC that can put it on him are JDS and Cain. And JDS is no definate in that department. I'll agree that Brock needs to concentrate more on the stand-up game, but he has plenty of time to work on that and pick a few things up between now and his next fight. No need to take a large amount of time off to study more. IMO, with what he's already proven, that would be pointless. He's a former UFC Champion, with a legit title defense under his belt (I consider the Carwin fight a legit defense, even though there was an interum). From here on out, he has to learn on the job.

When replies are made out of hate, all logic is thrown out the window. Brock got beat in a similar fashion as GSP did against Serra. And...

Well Master I think you are right that he could do well against the average comp. I was just thinking JDS, rematch with Cain etc. sorry not to be clear.

The UFC HW division is pretty weak once again so Brock could beat the majority of guys except JDS, Cain, Nelson, Carwin.

I actually think Nelson would beat Lesnar. But still, it is a bit of a toss up fight;if Lesnar takes Nelson down will Roy be able to create space unlike Mir? Also, I think Roy does have better K.O. power than Mir imo, Mir is just the more technical striker. Then you take into account Roy's chin, I think that fight would go to him. But, if Brock were to plant him on his back and Nelson couldn't create any space, then Brock would take it. Thing is, I don't know if comparing Mir to Nelson is a good comparison. As great as Mir's BJJ is, he just cannot in anyway deal with the better wrestlers out there. Nelson could very well lose the same way to Brock as Mir did, but Nelson's grappeling is definitly better than Mirs.
And if Nelson catches Brock good, alot of us know what Brocks reaction would probobly be. Of course Roy doesn't hit as hard as Carwin or Cain, but he still packs quite a punch.
I personally think Brock needs to take on less than top-tier guys for at least a year, while focusing on training hard in striking. And then a year or two down the road, we might see him on top again. But, I really don't think he can come even close to competing with Cain or JDS at this point. I really think JDS would be like Lesnar's kryptonite.. and I think he'd make a mockery of him, probobly with a ko/tko in the first minute at this point in time. And I'm curious to see what kind of BJJ JDS has up his sleeve, hopefully we'll get to see what he's capable of when he fights Valasquez and we'll hopefully also get to see how Cain deals with BJJ(which could be the one weakness he has, if any).
If Lesnar wants to take MMA seriously, then I think he should first fight Nelson and go from there. But even if he did beat Nelson, I don't see him beating Carwin in a rematch.. unless Carwin is going to forever be one of those 1st round guys who becomes completely vulnurable after every first 5 minutes due to endurance.

Only guys he'd struggle with in SF are; Overeem and maybe Fedor.
So, thats 2 more guys he'd struggle with in the UFC. Guess he's in the right place huh?

Lol, who said anything about SF? Somebody is clearly showing their bias.....
On that note though, Kharitonov, Barnett, Cormier, Big Foot, Werdum, would all torch Lesnar. The dude has 0 ability to take a punch, barring Carwin gassing he'd be 0-2 in his last 2 fights. He's nowhere near the level of the guys I just mentioned.

No, you're right; he's a former UFC world champion....he's cleary a few levels above them.
Good of you to notice. Now go flex in your mirror and puch a kid wearing a 'Tapout' shirt.

Brock's entrance towards his UFC belt was crap, I'll agree to that.
Hearring is irrelevant these days, wasn't THAT great overall. Mir is tailor made for Brock. Couture is, in reality, way out of his league as far as HW's go(I wanted to see Mir/Couture more than Brock/Couture). But, Brock did come through on top. And his wrestling, is amazing. When he shoots; wholy * !
As far as guys like Valasquez, Fedor, Overeem, JDS, a well-conditioned(we'll see) Carwin, even Nelson ect. The scale is leaning against him at this point. But, he's so athletic, strong and fast, not to mention his wrestling ability, to say he wouldn't have a chance against any of the top HW's is ridiculous.-He definitly does and can pose a problem for alot of fighters, Cain, JDS and Overeem(especially Overeem) are the only three guys I see no point in him fighting, because I just don't believe he stands a chance. Fedor would be cool to see, I don't think Lesnar would come out on top, but I think he could push Fedor a bit(as long as Brock stays strict to his wrestling). Werdum might turn out to be his kryptonite, imo.
I think Lesner needs some time to train and compete with lower(mid-tier) level fighters, quite a bit of it to be specific, but I won't count him out of any fight(well, very few), the dude is dangerous as hell. And if he is willing to put in the time and is planning on a long term MMA career, he's still capable of becoming great.
But just like I wonder if Carwin will be able to up his endurance, I wonder whether or not Lesner can grow a heart. Because as of right now, I haven't really seen it. Pitty to, because other than his somewhat sluggish standup and a lack of a true, fighter's instinct, he's got just about everything else.
But maybe with time, training and experience he can expand, who knows.
EA, these forums used to work so great, what the hell happened?
