I hear what you are saying Jobrule, but I think Mark's answer has a lot of hardcore gamers worried. It has me a little worried eventhough I think he will be good to the team because he brings in fresh eyes.

The idea of bringing more people to the game of Madden means you are going to dumb it down for new people. That's time you could be working on a new hardcore element, fixing some of the gameplay issues that new people wouldn't care about or even notice. Every new featured geared at bringing people in is time not spent on expanding the game. There are already features that are for new comers to get into the game.

Bottom line is the developers already only have but 10 months or less to work on this thing, I pray it's spent on polishing up and expanding an already beautiful Madden 10 game.

I can see it now the complaining starting.

As I said in the other thread, just because someone has an arcade game background doesn't mean that they can't be productive in a simulation game as well. After all I'm sure their have been designers and programmers for sports games that have been involved with both genres.

After the success and general positive reception to the game of Madden for the first time this gaming generation, I would imagine EA would want to keep with status quo on being a full simulation football game and keeping on adding new stuff that fit that mantra. It would be fair to wait for what Madden has in store before jumping on them for turning arcade.

When you hire someone with a certain background most of the time that is what you bring them on board for.... their background. How do you create a realistic game that keeps a 10 year old and 30 year old interested. It's nearly impossible when it comes to a sports game when the 30 year old is a die-hard sports fan.

Hey, impossible is nothing.

I think it's possible. You can make a game accessible and enjoyable for a 10 year old, while it's entertaining for a 30 year old that watches football on TV or goes to games like it's a religion he's dedicated to. I've played football games as a little kid on the PS1, and I'm sure there were people of older age that played football games on the PS1 as well. So you can say it's possible now, and EA is working to expand number of consumers from both sides of the age spectrum. After all adult gamers need accessibility for the series as well just like kids.

I see where the fear is warranted. and I admit that I do have a small sense of fear that they do try to creep in arcadish elements into the game. Once you roll that ball it turns a snowball and madden isn't so sim and fun (in my mind) anymore. But after the positive recpition they've gotten this year, I can't see EA making a mistake here and that Mark will be a good addition to a franchise that wants to be as realistic as possible and don't alienate the hardcore football gamers.

Bringing more people to the game most likely results in dumbing down, but at the same time you can 'smarten up' the game and make it more challenging for the Madden vets and hardcore football gamers. Many of the users that need accessibility will likely start off on the lower skill levels anyway. So hopefully the developers spends the appropriate amount of time on working on the game fundamentals and new features that continues to make the game very realistic and fun still for us gamers wanting Madden to be a flight sim of football gaming ultimately.

At 5:03, on the whiteboard shows new defensive formations:

"Psycho" - Packers
"Prowl" - Jets

Also says Ravens - Blitz Packages, and a new formation/play for Cardinals apparently.

That comment by the Blitz/NBA Jam guy about brining in the arcade type players really makes me nervous.

What makes madden so great is the depth and simulation aspects. I will be extremely disappointed if the game turns at all towards Blitz/NBA Jam style.

Im also worried about the Arcade factor coming into the game just let that guy make NFL Blitz i dont want madden getting fake. I play my friends all the time and when stupid "fake" stuff happens they quit playing and wont play me anymore and say this is why i dont buy madden anymore because that would never happen in real life

Don't get me wrong, I have no worries that Madden 11 will become arcadish. I have met and talk with Ian and I know he has the passion as most of us hardocre guys have, he won't let that happened.

My concern is just making the game more accessible to new players. I play with my son (age 7) on Madden 10 now and I think it's very accessible, but then again he's been playing Madden ever since he was able to hold a controller.

Look, we have a long time before we even get a glimpse of gameplay, let's just hold it down for now.

THats why they made MADDEN ARCADE!

If thats not enough, then I dont know what to do for those 10yr olds and the 30yr olds who play like 10yr olds!

Keep madden AUTHENTIC! The more you guys try to figure out how to make more money, you end up losing more in sheer sales every year. Keep it real and stop dumbing it down for crowds that were never into it in the 1st place.

When I wanted over the top football, I went and played NFL BLITZ!

When I got tired of that, I turned on Madden!

These Arcade elements will only lead to more cheating, more complaining and less people buying madden every year. Its already pro, all pro, and all madden modes. If thats not good enough then tough luck!!! Either step your gaming skills up or just dont play it.

You guys have too much to focus on as it is...

Franchise MODE- Been doing quite well, not hearing too many complaints like the previous maddens

Online play- Same every year, nothing really changes but the usernames and some new glitch or unrealistic aspect that ruins online play for much of the hard core. Not everyone likes playing the same 4-10 people on your friends lists all the time.

Features- This is a sport thats been around for ages, and yet we still find ourselves with 2% of penalties being called that are called in real life. We dont even have package subs yet and that was mentioned several times last year.

Listen to the people or suffer from the competition taking advantage of an opportunity you guys are taking for granted.

I get exactly what you saying...

Jobo, we know you a community member and all and everytime I read your post you come off as a butt kisser (no dis respect) but thats how I feel when I read everything you said in your reply posts. Then after you really have comprehended what the person you replied to said, you comeback and rebuttle with the same sentiments as everyone else here.

Its cool and all bro, but sometimes EA has to hear it from othrs they have chosen to communicate with them directly. I am learning how to be more constructive with my criticism but not to the point where I come off like you did.

Just had to point that out!

Hey no problem. Think of me the way you want to think of me. Just let it be known though that my thoughts are completely honest and I'm not just saying stuff to be a PR machine and mislead people.

As long as people are constructive with their thoughts and don't make posts to attack the developers and companies, they will listen. It's much easier to pay attention to someone giving you feedback that helps you, rather then reading posts that anger you because of the insults.

It Remains to be seen. I know it can be irresistable to pick on others (EA) and yes there is some outstanding feedback-It would just be nice if EA is reading these posts and gives you an occasional thumbs up-meaning they've read your forum/post and Acknowledge what you have said whether it's a brand new idea, or nodding their head yes-meaning thet've heard that idea 100 times or a simple complaint about something small. A simple acknowledgement from EA will go a long way. Trust me ipeople will feel less likely to be rude and send HATRED feesback if they actucally feel like their voice has been heard. So basically in short The ideas' on the table EA acknowledges, whether or not they implement it, is yet to be seen
