I had a teammate trying to block me earlier today because I was 32-1 and sniping on Helmand Valley. People like that (and the ones that kick you) don't understand the importance of a good marksman. They'll be mad if the enemy sniper is killing them every time they charge the hill but they get mad is a friendly sniper is having success. I've had people accuse me of "not playing a team game" but as I remind them, if I (and other snipers) don't pick off those guys during the game, we're probably not going to win the match.

cem_ea_id.stanandoli wrote:Agreed this game is broken, Why in the HELL do I have a high powered scoped sniper rifle that takes 2 - 3 shots to kill someone (Which bounces all over the screen like i am in a boat with heavy waves hitting the side) at a very long distance, while some kid with a small close range assault weapon and iron sights can put 3 rounds into me before I can reload my gun and every friggin shot of his is on target?

Why the HELL don't all guns have recoil?
Why the hell don't standard guns have sway when looking the sights?
Why the hell does a small assault weapon or pistol do more damage at long range then a high powered sniper rifle this is ridiculous?

The game needs to be fixed!!!

To answer your first question, as I said, trigger discipline. Don't take a non-lethal shot. Follow your enemy, wait for him to stop, and then pop him in the head. If someone else gets him first, just move on to your next target. Non-sniper rifles are faster thus you can be killed in those instances. Since there is no bullet gravity in the game (unlike BFBC2), bullets from a rifle or pistol are just as effective if they're fired at the proper locations. The best way to avoid this is to use a spot that they can't realistically aim at you from unless they're using a scoped sniper rifle. To answer your fourth question, a headshot is a headshot. Torso shots are "more lethal" from assault rifles because more bullets can be fired in a shorter period of time. For your other two questions, I've never had any problems with how the game handles them so I don't have an opinion on those issues.

Nochin seen you around the forum since game release, gotta give you props man the class buff idea is gold I love My m-24 and busting a grape across the map gives me a joy like no other but I would love to EARN the buff with well placed head shots to have upper torso or groin kills.Or a class specific buff for each. One of the best ideas seen yet on this forum +100.

True...

My tip: unless you have a 100% chance of a headshot, don't fire. It's simple trigger discipline. You can't complain about not getting kills on torso shots if you don't take torso shots.

...and true. But as you can see from my little story, the headshots don't always seem to work for me, even when neither I nor the target are moving. Maybe some other factor is in play here, but to me it just feels like the hitbox for "headshot" seems a little too small. I'd like to just see it enlarged slightly to include areas like the neck and upper chest around shoulders level.

I've had that issue a few times but I'm convinced that either I twitched and moved the reticule or the other guy moved just enough at the last second.

I do know that the game is extremely accurate at long range. I can routinely headshot enemy players at the fourth point from the second point on Helmand Valley. Every once in a while, I won't kill the person but I figure that he moved (isn't as easy to detect small movements at that range).

Just curious: What is your setup?

Mine:
SV-98
HP Scope
Rangefinder
Extra Ammo

Agree'd! Just remove the damn class.. Or atleast the bolt action! Its 100% useless.

Also, DICE will NEVER look at these forums.. It was a good shot, but a waste of typing.

No need to make sniper rifle more dangerous! Because truly snipers can kill without problems in the head by one shot. If you will make this more powerfull, then all noobs again will take this gun and will sit all the time. Don't even think to change it back!

P.S.: And btw if you will have team support by series, then it will kill by one shot. I mean from all streaks damage support.

My setup is exactly the same, although I tend to flip flop between the SV and the M24. I have my class set for maximum accuracy, i.e. no open-tip. I tried using open-tip for a while because I thought maybe sniping a little closer with more damage would be better. But it seemed to make no difference at all, so I went back to extra mags.

Well the point is not to make sniping the way it was before. That was just as ridiculous. All I really want is just to enable one shot kills from around the neck area up. As it is now, it seems if I hit someone in the chin or upper neck, they don't die, when I think that should be a lethal shot with a bolt action and classified as a headshot. I like having the sniper rifles require more skill now, but it's just frustrating when I achieve that skill and don't get the reward of the kill. That's what I would like to see eliminated.

Agreed, they also need to change combat mission to a time limit instead of the current attacker death limit. does my head in when the game ends early just because some dum * cant stay alive for longer than 2 seconds.

Agreed. In most games, a neck shot IS a head shot. I've noticed that it doesn't register in this game so I've had to adjust my shot some. Always at eye level or above; haven't had a single problem.

OK so I just checked an old commentary I did back during beta and I found something interesting! Watch the video below from 2:08-2:35. I mention that headshots are required for one-shot kills from long distance UNTIL YOU GET MATCH AMMO...then you can one-shot in the chest, which is why it's so important to earn match ammo.

I thought I remembered the system being different in beta, and it turns out it was! I wish they would just re-implement the old damage profile from the beta, or something close to it. Now that they made the scorechain rewards require more points, this system would make even more sense, because you'd have to get to 100 points to unlock match ammo which, combined with a 30pt UAV would take about 4-5 headshot kills to reach.

Am I just talking crazy here, or were the bolt actions a little different beta?

P.S. Also watch the kill I get at 7:43. I hit the guy in the back of the neck and get a one-shot. That's exactly the area I'm talking about that I think should be a one-shot now. Pretty much the neck up.

I also noticed a difference between the beta and final version but I also noticed that difference on BFBC2. The M24 in that beta was more powerful (imo) than it was in the final version of the game.

The current profile isn't terrible but I also wouldn't mind a switch to the one used in the beta. But what we have now is better than launch; killing someone by shooting them in the foot? Hilarious.

I've always assumed that Medal of Honor was nothing more than a guinea pig for Battlefield 3. So, I'm assuming that we'll get these changes for BF3 but not MOH. I don't think the latest patch adjusted the profile and a new patch (if a third one is done) is probably two-three months away.

OK so what you noobs are saying is that if you get shot in the chest you won't die from a sniper rifle atleast add the chest to the one shot kill instead of just the head

2. "Camping" is a valid strategy that's a vital part of each and every game.

Amen to that.

I would never complain in combat mission about deenders who camp. What else should the do???

I agree with not only fixing the game but also with hearing from the devs.

I really feel like we've been left out in the cold.

Of course we have. With declining sales and players, do you really believe that DICE has placed any kind of priority of Medal of Honor when there is Battlefield 3 and Bad Company: Vietnam to work on? That's the only problem when you have two separate developers do different parts of the game.

Battlefield 3 should be like Medal of Honor in many ways. I'm just getting as much as I can out of MOH until I can make the switch next year.
