I am unsure where this updater is... I got the game through Steam, installed through Steam. I check the Update News for BFBC2 and it just shows me Steam client updates, no game updates (in comparison, L4D and L4D2 both show game updates when I do this). I searched for an "update" file, but none were found where my Steam games are installed.

I have yet to play multiplayer, it usually will not pull up a server list, but when it does I still haven't been able to connect. "Unable to connect to EA Online" if I am trying to pull up servers, or if I am trying to join a game "connection to the game server has been lost...". I can login and select my solder fine.

Sorry for the bump and all, but I'm still having the same problems as the OP. I re-installed, disabled firewall, etc., but when PB finishes installing, it just closes without updating or anything. When I open up the server browser thing, it just searches for a while, and then stops searching without any messages. If I go to 'Play Now', and do 'Any Gamemode', and 'Any Map', it just searches for a couple seconds, then says 'No servers found'.

I tried running 'BFBC2Updater.exe' in the install directory, but it just seems to run the game, without updating or anything. All my firewalls are disabled, but I can't seem to figure out how to update it.

I cant see that he's mentioning anything about it - but my guess is: that he had been playing BF:BC2-BETA ..and diddent get ALL the beta-files deleted, before he did the total search and clean-up(where he also deleted the full game).

It is that simple, that BETA-files can bring the final game to its knee(dont ask me why) and they dont get deleted by a simple uninstall!

Anyways, im happy that he get it to work!

Nah, my ports are forwarded, but I still can't figure out how to update. I added a support ticket to support.ea last night, but haven't got a reply yet. :\

Halp?

Yeah I concur,

This is fu**ing bullsh**! I've owned this games for 12 days and I'm rank 2... I spend more time trying to find servers then I've spent playing. I've forwarded all necessary ports, followed all the suggestions online and everywhere else. I run the BFBC2Updater.exe and it doesnt even try to connect to anything when I sniff the data in my packet sniffer. When I click refresh in server list I receive data but it does not show up in the game client. Wtf is going on here? Why can several people play but others can't? I'm about ready to return this piece of crap unfortunately.

I have the Steam version as well. I am running Window 7. The file you are looking for is in your "games" start menu folder of Vista or 7. It is really located in your my documents folder. It is NOT located in your Steam Apps folder. You can mess with the updater, but if you do (i.e. so you can set it to run as admin), sometimes if you try to run the game from the Steam console, it will say the game is unavailable. That's ok though, because if you click on the shortcut in your games folder, it will run just fine. It will even log you into Steam prior to loading.

Tonight I will try port forwarding and taking my Router out of the loop. My probelm is that I can connect to a server, but only SOMETIMES. I just have to keep clicking until it opens. Once I am in, it's fine, other than the LAG of loading the games and updating stats. I don't really see that the game itself is laggy, but the between game interface is. For instance, between games it sits at "Loading, Please wait," for an awfully long time. Once it changes to Join, I am in, but the game as already been underway for a while! I can live with it for now as I have other games to play and finish first, but they need to fix it soon.

One more thing for Steam users. I noticed if you run the game via Steam, you will never see ping rates. If you go into the games folder, right click it and set to run as admin, then run it there, it will show the ping rates.

For those who are able to connect without PunkbusterB's heartbeats stopping, what version of Punkbuster are you currently on? Both client and server side, please. Info can be found when checking for manual updates through the PB updater.

if people follow the EXACT steps of this forum it will work.. im sure it will... be sure u delete everything from BFBC.. reboot.. open auto run as admin on the dvd.. and choose the "run from cd" option.. and not the acces from all PC's max 10.. that wont work.. then after punkbuster is installed aswell u wont get a compleet message or anything.. but just go to the map u installed BFBC in and first thing to do is open the BFBC2Updater and it will take in a big patch.. thats all...

but still its fkin stupid you cant play when u buy the game... to much * going on

but follow the steps EXACTLY and it will work..!

spoke to multiple people who done it and they all worked..

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but if you are DMZ'ed do you have to worry about the ports forwarding at all?
