LOL it kind of does sound like that, who would've thought an NBA star would be mentioned in a game?

I played with settings myself, still hearing russian ingame, the only russian I know are TATU...

Battlefield 3 is NOT a Battlefield 2 successor

Hmmm, then, there's a mystery here. Does seem to work for me, and now when I start up the game I see under "Options | Settings" that both language settings are "localized", which is good. Maybe you need to set the .ini file and check the Options settings and set them correctly & save, too? Anyway, mine's working, at least for one map, one time... Keep the feedback coming, someone will figure this out.

battlefield.Fredhead wrote:I just figured out how to make localization work, i.e. to get the Russians to speak English with a Russian accent. Kaylos gave an answer http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/105/448777.page#4265242, but it didn't work for me. I put my solution later in that thread, but thought I'd repost here, since it's worth spreading the word.

Go to your directory C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\BFBC2 and edit your GameSettings.ini with a text editor (e.g. Notepad). Warning: you should make a backup copy of that file first. Fourth line down it says:

OriginalVOForEnemyTeam=1

Change that to:

OriginalVOForEnemyTeam=0

Done!

+ 1 it worked for me..thanks.. they talk with a weird accent and thats funny..sometimes you will still hear someone talk russian or whatever language..but most of the time ya will hear engrissshhhh..uhhh ooops englishhhh..lol

Thank you for dying, please come again.

Once its russian, once its english... its just stupid.

I've verified that doing the fix I outline has made the Russians speak English on a lot of maps. Seems like the fix is good, at least for me.

I use the fact that my teammates are speaking Russian to identify when the enemies are around. If you're on the Russian side and you hear someone saying something in English, you know that an enemy is close to you. Why would you give up that advantage?

OK maybe there are TWO lines in the GameSettings.ini that need to be looked at.

OriginalVOForEnemyTeam=0

and

VOLanguage=0

This way, I think, is English for both playing the Russians, and playing against the Russians.

Yes, I think that's right. My VOLanguage was already 0, I didn't have to change it. I believe that's the "Voiceover Language" option. Post updated.

I prefer the original Russian anyway. Having the Russians speak English is like having the Americans speak Spanish. It just feels weird. Besides, after playing Battlefield all these years, I can understand the basic Russian statements ingame (this is the 5th BF game to feature Russians of some type).
