This new version is "button smasher" friendly, which is too simplified. Also, the one button block feature is also lame. You producers have been comparing the evolution of this series to NBA 2k. What makes NBA 2k fun is that it is complex. You guys totally dumbed down this version; but for what? Isn't this game rated "M", you've made this game so user friendly that it has become boring. I'm staying on my copy of FNR4.
can you be any more lame? Really? To simply.... that either means your retarded or suck at the game.... I mean... if its simple... and you cant play it.. whats wrong with you? one button block feature... is nice I mean.. who wants to worry about 100 buttons so your hand gets tendenitus all because you want a game thats "Complicated"
1. I use the buttons for jabs and crosses and the stick for uppercuts, but the stick is at least 2 times as easy, all you have to do is STICK FLOP and you will combo and get a ko. the buttons have been turned way down and not any where near as effective, bs ea wants the little kids to love it with the big fake stick flopping combos, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SWEAT SCIENCE OH IT WAS REPLACED BY FAKE OVER POWERED COUNTERS AND STICK FLOPPING WOW THIS GAME IS A POS
Ohh... you start out with "1" then i keep reading for 2 ...3...4.. and there is none... did you forget there was a point you were trying to make? I think whats wrong with what you said is you use buttons for jabs and stick for uppercuts... now seriously? why would you play like that? your so right that they want little kids to love it.. I mean your just enjoying the crap out of it. its mature rating.... because the blood...gore.. gun violence...cursing
counter punching is not overpowerd its a "sweet Science" "Boxing 101" I think you just need to learn to block it should be easy its 1 button.
[qoute]ditto btok.. the game is so cheap.. not technical or anything.... people literally tap block over and over since the parry system is so trash. EA really needs to fix it cause people are literally standing in front of you tapping block then getting free "counter" power punches and winning.
its sad [/qoute]
I agree there is some glitches to be worked out.. but uhh holding block.. you do know you can jab through a block right?? and block is about timing so if you hold block believe it or not with jabs you can break through the gaurd.. I only have problems with bodyspammers... and side step counter's wich are cheap strats... that are obviously bad exploits but seriously... if you cant break through someone who blocks all the time... why dont you just copy them? then counter.
This game is cheap huh... well they got your money so in the end EA wins... you lose. Thanks for the money!

only wish this was true. this game is full of spam. fighters can throw 120-150 punches per round and 1100+ per 10 round fight (2 min rounds).
the only real defence is another unrealistic feature call the perfect block. high volume punching and spam blocking were both in FNR4.

I played a legacy mode catchweight fight and my opponent was 100% stamina for the first 10 rounds, how is that even possible? Even without throwing any punches (of course he did throw punches) getting hit by mine, dodging/blocking mine, moving around the ring etc. should have brought his stamina down, but every round he recovered back to 100%

Overall it's a good, solid game. However, the whole idea of reach advantage has been thrown out the window. I fought Billy Dib with Thomas Hearns just to test this and at certain points Dib was able to stay in there and jab with Hearns. Plus, the jab wouldn't even keep Dib off of me. He just kept coming forward even while being hit flush with the jab. That's ridiculous. All I'm asking for is a little realism in the game. I was an amateur boxer and I could stop guys in their tracks with my jab and I was never on the level of a Thomas Hearns jab.
Also, why don't you try releasing a disc with DLC on it because I don't have internet access but I would love to have the new content. Making it available to only those who have internet is completely unfair. Or, at least make such a disc available for order on your website. I think that'd be a great idea.
Plus, the damage could still use some tweeking. In some ways, it looks good. In others it doesn't look bad enough. Swelling isn't as severe as it is in real life. I mean, two of the fighters in the game, Fernando Vargas and Shane Mosley had their first fight and it was very good. I want to see swelling like how Fernando Vargas' eye looked at the end of that fight. That would be some serious brutality. Cuts above the eye where the blood is going into the eye. And, PLEASE, have some more realistic introductions. They're too fast and don't help to build excitement. And, more exciting endings as well. During a close fight there should be more tension when a decision is announced. Plus, I can hardly hear the judges scoring over the crowd. It's been that way for years and it should have been fixed by now. A big part of how a game is recieved is how well it's presented. The intros and the endings are too rushed. I know it would be remarkable to critics if the presentation were fixed.

Fight Night Champion showcases the most authentic graphical representation of the sport with realistic blood, damage and deformation.

So because of the whining and this crappy update, I now have to deal with a slower game all the way to the 10th round. Which also means less knockouts for me, since the update on the 28th I've had 1/15 KO's. All other by decisions.

I do not know specifically what the new patch was supposed to address but it seemed that most people with good records obtained it through 3 unrealistic exploitive tactics.
1. Power Punch Exploit: The One Armed Fighter
Dubd86, who is the former Middle Weight KO King used this method. Because of my loss to him by constant power right hooks, I probably improved my record from 7-3 to about 25-5. Wouldn't someone exaust themselves out by the 4th round if they faught like this?
2. Jab/Straight Exploit: Round by Punches Landed
After 10 to 14 days into online play I started to losing way more frequently than I was used to. The online community had become wise to the one armed fighter. It seemed that 75% of punches landed were landed on me were dinky jab/straight combos. After some frustrating losses I adopted this method too. Bleachers would be empty if a boxers only threw pitiful combos and ran cowardly around the ring.
3. Side Step Power Counter Exploit
I learned this method on my own after 14 days consecutive of play. By this time I built my MW boxer up to an 84. If my opponent was a jab/straight exploiter I used this method to make them open up. Also, this method was ridiculously effective against aggressive power punch exploiters at any overall. But no one in the "analog world" can win most of their fights like Daniel-San when he faught Mr. Myagi's nemisis's nephew.
The new patch offsets these 3 exploits. Last night I was baffeled. I received 4 UD losses in a row in LW. Eventhough, I landed more jabs and power punches than my opponent I was still losing. Why weren't the announcers praising my dinky combos? Why couldn't I land a counter? The new patch may not be perfect, but it is a step toward perfection. In the coming months or year a series of updates will either make elite gamers fight more realistcly or find bogus ways to win.

that is way there are judge's
the game is more real, shame nothing can be done about some of the other cheap tactics as well. then it would be a sim game. but to be fair that's not EA its the other players

Bait & Switch? 1 punch KO's were a touted new feature and they are gone too.
Give me what I paid for.
The load screen of Paq vs. Cotto. If I crank the damage slider up, thats what I should get. But no, I am lucky to see minor redness like the guy has hayfever or allergies.

I want the option to either turn stamina off or dictate how fast it drains. I want slugfests. I like destroying people with Tyson, and the new tuner update causes me to stop punching when I can finish my opponent because the stamina is drained. I hate that.
