If you take that number and put it upside down you'll get an idea of what I think about DICE and EA right now. What the hell is this game doing exactly when it pings the servers on server browser?
Ya I didnt think it would help. Your only options are try a diff router or try contacting the isp to see if its blocked

Right click your BFBC2.exe and choose Run as Administrator - ought to fix the issue.
Cheers
geez do these guys even read the posts before writing something? Having the same problem, nothing helps. Not even connecting directly to the modem, router tweaks or running the game with high priviledges

yep better off contacting the ISP to make sure its not being blocked. Its a connection issue. If its his modem (has router in it) or a seperate router then I would try a diff one. They may even offer a diff model if its theirs.
My speedtouch modem/router would drop the ea connection.
Not alot of people but my neighbor had same prob with same modem. We both changed to a speedstream 4200 and it works. It can be just the modem/router.

I can contact the ISP to see if "it" is blocked, but what exactly is "it"? I'm absolutely sure ICMP isn't, because I can ping any server just fine. so WHAT exactly are we talking about here?
I only wish someone from EA would make any kind of announcement regarding this problem, which seems to be affecting a LOT of people.
what exactly are we after? how is BC2's ping system different from pretty much EVERY OTHER SINGLE GAME IN THE UNIVERSE? they all work fine, only BC2 is being a *...

to every one who's trying to help, thanks a lot. I'd just like to say that I am already running both steam and the bc2 executable as admin. this appears to solve the problem for some people, but not all, and it was not my case.

Exactly, people say "your isp is blocking it"
Well what exactly are they blocking?
Im gonna keep watching this thread since this is the exact same problem I have and I tried all the so called "fixes"
Hopefully DICE can figure this out or at least tell us what is being blocked.

What kind of internet security application do you use, i.e. Norton Security Suite, AVG, Mcaffee, etc?

Bump.
Anyone from EA/Dice reading this, would you mind clarifying some points? What exactly does the server browser ping need to work properly?

Im guessing its ICMP if no ping shows how to fix it, I wish I knew! It just works for me. Thats why I think its a isp or router problem
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Control_Message_Protocol
Internet Control Message Protocol is part of the Internet Protocol Suite as defined in RFC 792. ICMP messages are typically generated in response to errors in IP datagrams (as specified in RFC 1122) or for diagnostic or routing purposes.
ICMP messages are constructed at the IP layer, usually from a normal IP datagram that has generated an ICMP response. IP encapsulates the appropriate ICMP message with a new IP header (to get the ICMP message back to the original sending host) and transmits the resulting datagram in the usual manner.
For example, every machine (such as an intermediate router) that forwards an IP datagram has to decrement the time to live (TTL) field of the IP header by one; if the TTL reaches 0, an ICMP Time to live exceeded in transit message is sent to the source of the datagram.
Each ICMP message is encapsulated directly within a single IP datagram, and thus, like UDP, ICMP is unreliable.

Well it should be an easy fix.
What does this server list have different than every other server list in every multiplayer game released in the last 10 years. Then change that.
I know alot of people have found workarounds but there are still some who cant get those to work
Why cant they just take the code from BF2. That server list works. Or ask Valve or any other programmer with experience to help them.

Sorry if you already tried this, but is your game updated? Check programfiles/ea/bfbc2/update log to see if you have the latest patch. If you do update, restart pc after.
Good Luck!
