One thing I've learned is to never believe a lot of the things you hear off of Slap. I think he just went underground like a lot of Ams and Pros do. The news you've heard about Vinny is sadly true though. I don't think he'll make a comeback even though I wish he would. I hope in the next few years we see some of these old faces pop up rather than the millions of new ones. Ryan Nixx, Scott Cane, Mike Maldonado, Joey P, etc...

yeah for sure, ryan nix is an alcoholic though i think, after watching his day in the life for gold star skateboards, hopefully he'll come back up. scott kane just needs to lay off the beers and get back on his board, mike is pretty old now i think. but yeah im not sure what to think about joey, he disspaeared when he went on trainwreck's company young gunz, which never even made a board, if you go to his my space it says * trainwreck.

apparently he really was on coke and dealing (the donny guy said he stopped though but then in that one thread that kid at woodward said joey was tweaking and was in jail and crap). i hope he cleans up and talks to herman or something to try and get hooked up, i mean i dont think he ever just decided to go underground, most people are saying its all trainwrecks fault. but antwuan was on the company too but got on baker straight after (so did joey but he got kicked off or something).

if i could i would email the owner of pharmacy boardshop (donny damron/darmon) and ask if joey's still on the team, he said he was working at the palmdale shop so maybe he still is hopefully......

Garfield High School in Seattle is one of the largest and and most epic skate spots ever. I would be stoked if that was in skate.

the footy starts at about 4:30 and goes till the end but it still doesn't even begin to show all of the cool stuff to skate there. This is mostly just footy of the 2 8 stairs with cobblestone rails.

ooooooooh thats the name of that spot, ive seen it in tons of vids, yeah theres that bank to wall with a stairset and handrail right by it, and then the pebble ledge rails are in front, my friend has been there and says its great for lines, that would be a sick spot to skate in the next game for sure.

carlsbad would be soooo epic. and is it too much to ask for a few schools? preferrably ones that feel like an actual school, not the **** they made and called it a school. and the city needs a better feel... maybe they could recreate actual cities? (if they took the time, they could.)

yeah i agree, in real life tons of famous spots are at schools, i would love real life schools in the game like carlsbad, sylmar, belmont etc.

In skate 3 would you guys please use a more up to date graphics engine. Your claims of 60fps were a little exaggerated. Maybe that's true if there are only 3 polys in front of you. With the exception of the self shadowing that you added, I would say that the graphics in the original Skate were much better. At lease it had motion blur.
Take a look at the engine used for uncharted 2. The use of Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion works very well. Skate could really benefit from this sort of thing as it would really help to ground the skater during wipeouts and colisions with walls and such. You've done a good hack with the contact shadow under the board in previous Skates. Now it's time to step it up.
Also it's time for you to bite the bullet and use realtime dynamic shadows for the environment. This lowres shadowmap bake thing you've been doing is so 2005 . It really gives the removed "hanna barbara look" to the characters. Again, "uncharted 2" is a great example of how you can get a much better look from dynamic lighting than from baking. Now if you insist on continuing to bake, please take a look at how "mirror's edge" approaches this technique buy using much higher res shadows. it's really quite beautiful. Although they suffer from the "hanna barbara look" something awefull.
Finally, please either abandon your "jello-like" cloth sim or drasticly improve it. As it is now, it's just distracting. Take a look at the NBA 2k games for insiration. picture your skater with some b-ball shorts on that moved like that! How cool would that be!? or an unbuttoned flannel flapping in the wind while you're blasting a 20 set! Do all this and you'll have a game that is truely ready for 2010.
Other than that, I'd say the game is almost perfect. good job! oh, but if you could find a way to use the L3 or R3 buttons to get into a slappy or wally that would be cool too.
