First of all, thanks alot to Grimloche for posting that inf. I did both and the game finally installed. To anyone else with this problem the things he listed worked for me. First update the firmware for your DVD drive( through the manufacturer). Then search for secDrv version 4.3.86 and download and install it from microsoft. I have Windows XP.

Don't know if this helps but I had the DVD copy and had these issues. I followed the instructions in the first post but on top of that I left task manager on during the entire installation. I don't know if this helped me install properly, but I noticed that there were 3 'msiexec' processes running under my windows login ( msiexec was what I was directed to when I clicked on crysis installation in task manager and went to the process). Only one of these msiexecs was using cpu so I decided to end the other 2 under my name and either that or your fixes or a combination helped me install properly. Don't know, what I di might help some of you?

Ok, I didnt buy this game... my sister did... unfortunately I did not notice it was made by EA... I wish to return it for a full refund. I do not support EA, because of these continual issues with their games. I have 4 DVD-Roms (1 HD, 1 Blue Ray, and 2 DVD-RW)... I cant get it to install.
I was done buying EA games, and now Im stuck with another pile of crap.
No more EA! Sell your stock if you got it!

Anyone who does has bought this game and can not keep it. If EA is unwilling to provide refunds based on Tech issues, tell them that you do not agree to the EULA. They then have to provide you with a refund.

Same problem as many of you. My specifics, could copy DVD files to HD after a couple of attempts but still got error on cab files during install. Strange thing was that it wasn't always the same cab. Tried a hint from another webpost for another game that said it may be a vista interaction issue (yes was running install as admin). This solution worked for me.
Copy all files to the HD, run install from the HD files. When setup errors on a particular cab file, note the file name but leave the error message on screen. Run windows explorer and recopy that cab from the DVD (or another HD location where you kept another set of copies) to the install directory and overwrite the cab that gave the error message. When you are done overwriting the file, go back to the install error message and tell it to Try Again. Should proceed ahead for that cab. I had to do this for four separate cabs during the install but it finally finished and I can run the game.
Good Luck to all.
P.S. I hope someone is getting fired at EA for this mess. Just what I wanted to spend part of Christmas day doing. What a way to kill a product.

I've been getting this sounds~1.cab error for weeks (DVD version, copied files to the hard drive) and despite trying every suggestion I can find across the internet, still no solution. Here's the thing though:
1) I got the same cab error installing the demo. I was able to get the demo working by waiting until the error appeared then copying a new sounds~1.cab over top of the one the installer was using, then hitting retry and it worked. I've tried a dozen times now but it refuses to work again on the full version.
2) I got a .cab error when trying to install the UT3 demo too, but it worked after I clicked retry about 20 times in frustration
3) Even though it says the cab file is corrupt I can extract the sounds.pak manually. For some reason though it's just utterly convinced that there is something wrong with the cab file. I was going to try to recreate the cab file myself manually, but you need visual studio.
I'm totally out of ideas. It almost seems to be a bug with the msi installer since this problem happens with some games like UT3 (and if you look around the net a whole bunch of other games too), or something wrong with the way the cab files are being created. This is so frustrating =(

I want to ask a question.
Are you guys installing when you are logged in as administrators on your system?
And is it any different if you do install as administrator?
My story. I'm using an XPS 410 Vista Home Premium. I'm downloading for the second time. This time I'm going to try installing when I'm logged as the administrator. Last time I got the sounds~1.cab error. My sister has an XP Professional operating system, should I try installing on her laptop? And if it works should I should I take the .cab file and replace that with the corrupted one?
I think we all should try installing as administrators. I'll continue posting with my progress stats.

I seem to have made a grevious error is buying this game judging by the enormity of problems people are having with it. I purchased it via EA Store this afternoon, I have already downloaded it twice since using 100 m/bit connection and both times have been a corrupt download if the first poster information is correct. I have used various other non-EA site downloads since as a test and it is not a problem on my end, that is to say they were not corrupted. I notice that the earliest posts on this are going back to the middle of November. It is now 5th Jan and this product is still having these problems?
What sort of bandwidth is EA providing for online purchasers to download a 6gb game?
On subsequent attempts to download Crysis the download stops anywhere between 6mb and 20mb stating "lost internet connection during download" or sometimes giving an error number like "unexpected error 206". I can only assume that if the download stops before completion it will become corrupted on resume and that this corruption is due to the updated download manger?
Due to the limitation of the Download Manager constant user intevention is required as the download will not resume by itself once the manager has found a reason to stop. I have spent 6 hours waiting and intervening I do not want to spend any more hours near my computer waiting for solid download.
What do I have to do to get a refund? I cannot access the support page, it does not ever load. I cannot find any support telephone numbers and none were included in the order confirmation email.
This has been a lamentable experience.

I tried everything mentioned here and nothing worked - I even phoned the premium helpdesk number.
I eventually did find the following :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314810
and guess what !! it worked !!
Here is the detail:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
3. On the BOOT.INI tab, click Advanced Options.
4. In the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box, select the /MAXMEM= check box, and then change the setting to 256 (or lower if your computer has less RAM).
5. Click OK to close the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box.
6. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Apply.
7. Click OK to close the System Configuration Utility dialog box.
8. Click Restart to the following message:
You must restart your computer for some of the changes made by System Configuration to take effect.
9. After you restart your computer, install Office as a Complete Install.
10. After you install Microsoft Office, follow steps 1 through 8 to clear the /MAXMEM= check box. Message was edited by: CSurfer (EA.com)

So what does Microsoft Office have to do with this?
By the way I gave up downloading it. It never downloaded.
I'll probably just buy the DVD version and try this memory configuration thing.
Thanks for the new tip.

See http://www.crymod.com/thread.php? postid=116437#post116437 ...
in addition to re- installing the game you also can try to repair it (Add/Remove Crysis -> Repair) first. it worked for many people who where able to apply the patch after reparing their crysis installation.
