In skate 3 would you guys please use a more up to date graphics engine. Your claims of 60fps were a little exaggerated. Maybe that's true if there are only 3 polys in front of you. With the exception of the self shadowing that you added, I would say that the graphics in the original Skate were much better. At lease it had motion blur.
Take a look at the engine used for uncharted 2. The use of Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion works very well. Skate could really benefit from this sort of thing as it would really help to ground the skater during wipeouts and colisions with walls and such. You've done a good hack with the contact shadow under the board in previous Skates. Now it's time to step it up.
Speaking of wipeouts, they might benefit from the purchase of a Naturalmotion "euphoria" license or two. GTA IV pimped it out. why cant you? Whatever you've got going on now is definetly not optimised.
Also it's time for you to bite the bullet and use realtime dynamic shadows for the environment. This lowres shadowmap bake thing you've been doing is so 2005 . It really gives the removed "hanna barbara look" to the characters. Again, "uncharted 2" is a great example of how you can get a much better look from dynamic lighting than from baking. Now if you insist on continuing to bake, please take a look at how "mirror's edge" approaches this technique buy using much higher res shadows. it's really quite beautiful. Although they suffer from the "hanna barbara look" something awefull.
Finally, please either abandon your "jello-like" cloth sim or drasticly improve it. As it is now, it's just distracting. Take a look at the NBA 2k games for insiration. picture your skater with some b-ball shorts on that moved like that! How cool would that be!? or an unbuttoned flannel flapping in the wind while you're blasting a 20 set! Do all this and you'll have a game that is truely ready for 2010.
Other than that, I'd say the game is almost perfect. good job! oh, but if you could find a way to use the L3 or R3 buttons to get into a slappy or wally that would be cool too.
Hope that helps. I dont mean to hate, I love your game. I'd just like to see it be the perfect game it could be. Thanks!

WHY CAN'T THIS GAME BE BASED IN NYC FOR ONCE?
BROOKLYN BANKS
LES SKATEPARK
"THE GLOBE"
THERE ARE GREAT SPOTS ALL OVER NYC THAT CAN BE EASILY MODIFIED/RE CREATED THAT WOULD GIVE GAMERS A CHANCE TO SEE SKATEBOARDING OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA!

I'd love to see a realistic FDR Park. Much better than the THPG version. And of course LOVE..

There's some sick stairs where I live. A triple kink, a (kinda awkward but sick) quadruple kink, and a tall fence you have to ollie over for a big gap to rail. I'd love to see these in the game.

Im not even going to buy the game unless they make the physics and animations better... Its not realistic enough imo... they need different reactions to landings.. not every trick needs to be landed perfect on flat..

I dont have any spots to suggest cos im from ireland n as everyone knows, everythin there is made of green stuff and unskatable, but i think its awesome that ye are asking for the opinion of the people. Letting them play what they wanna play. Thats a pretty cool thing to do. Nice move!
