I got it workimg, I'll explain now...
First I followed all the steps listed in the first post in this thread (I have the DVD version). Cleaned the registry, defragmented, etc. After reading through every post, I also updated my dvd driver. After an initial problem with a lockup during installation (vista ftl), my second attempt at install worked!
So, my advice is just to follow the steps laid out in the first post here exactly. Then go and update your dvd driver and keep your fingers crossed
Good Luck!

Guys you know me. I had this problem too.
As a matter of fact I gave up.
But check this out. I had a problem with logging into my computer account and I contacted Dell Support.
I had a suspicion that it was my new RAM that was acting up. The game didn't install and the login problem came up after I got the new Dell certified RAM.
So what the support told me is to check my RAM. I did and everything works. Game installed no problem and I can login now with no problem.
This is what I did:
1.On computer startup at the very beginning where is says BIOS press F12. That should take you to the boot menu.
2.At the boot menu select Boot to Utility Partition.
3.Select Test Memory. Once it starts it can take a couple of hours depending on your CPU(s) and amount and speed of RAM.
4.Once its done it should take you back to the BIOS screen and it will continue normally.
Hope it works.

I have experienced the same problem as many of you and after much reading I was finally able to load and play. I believe the most crucial step was to update the firmware of my TSST drive. In addition, I also cleared the Temp cache, disabled everything in Mcafee, reduced the number of items running in the background, defraged, updated Windows installer, stood on my left foot while installing, held an EA flag in my right hand and sang the Star Spangled Banner...Anyway my thinking is that the drive was the biggest hurdle. I don't have an especially great setup either - AMD64 2800, Gigabyte Nforce4 motherboard, Nvidia 6600 video card, 1 GB of Crucial Ram, running XP SP2 - I am at about the minimum setup to run the game and it runs great - a little slow in the initial load, but plays great.

garrrr same problem. use to worked beautifully, then I reinstalled XP because of self inflicted registry issue. now I cannot get the damn thing to install at all. did all of the windows updates. dvd drive firmware should be no issue as it worked before. tried copying to the desktop and installing with no luck. but since it use to work before a fresh install of XP I know its got to be a software issue. just not sure where to start.

Don't know if this helps but I had the DVD copy and had these issues. I followed the instructions in the first post but on top of that I left task manager on during the entire installation. I don't know if this helped me install properly, but I noticed that there were 3 'msiexec' processes running under my windows login ( msiexec was what I was directed to when I clicked on crysis installation in task manager and went to the process). Only one of these msiexecs was using cpu so I decided to end the other 2 under my name and either that or your fixes or a combination helped me install properly. Don't know, what I di might help some of you? "
ok this ended up being my problem. I had 4 processes of this running during install. 2 were under system name, and 2 were under local name. only 1 of each were using CPU so I ended the other 2 that were not. installed just fine. now I just need to figure out why I cannot run ultra high graphics when I have 2 8800 GTX's in SLI Message was edited by: andrewbrandon19 (XBox)

About to give up, I'm not getting this game to install anymore.
I have the dvd. First time this game installed fine, I already started playing it. Then I thought to update my video driver If I get better performance (Radeon X800). I install the driver, well game won't start anymore. I uninstall the game, now when I'm trying to re-install I get this message about sounds.pak or sounds~1.cab file is missing, error 1335 something. I tried to copy that file from dvd to my hd, get some data error and it won't copy. So seems like faulty dvd disc but it did install properly the first time.. weird? Now there seem to be few other files that don't copy either, the following:
sounds~1.cab
AllOth~1.cab
AllOther.cab
10290
1036
1038
1045
2057
0x040c
0x040e
0x0405
all in root folder
My DVD drive is LG DVD Supermulti using lightsribe technology (Model is: GSA-H42L). All other games have worked without any problems but with Crysis there seems to be some problems reading the disc, sometimes my lg doesn't even recognize it. I updated firmware but didn't fix the problem. I've tried disabling antivirus programs, uninstall winrar etc. what have been suggested here but now i'm pretty clueless. Nothing seem to work.

Well, here goes. I have not found an answer to this that works for me yet. While attempting to install this game I get an an error message that reads"Error 1335, Cabinet file "Levels3.cab", missing, corrupted yada yada yada. If I hit retry I get a few more loading bars, then it pops up again. If I ignore it, I then get Error 2350.FDI, server.error. No way past that, it will not move, if you hit abort it cancels the game installation.
I copied the dvd to my desktop, and tried to install it from there, and then I get and error message # 1311, forgot what it said (sorry!), but basically said the cabinet was missing, even though it was right there on the screen. When I tired to open and explore the cabinet, it contained o bytes. This is actually the second game, I got the exact same error messages while trying to install the first one, took it back thinking I had a bad dvd, and now am experiencing the same problem. I know the dvd is good, as I can copy it to my desktop. I have tried ALL the suggestions I have found on EA's website, and have even called their tech support line 3 times. No luck there, those guys just tell me to re install, use task manager, etc. NOTHING seems to be working. I know my system can handle this game, I used the little check in the nanosuit website to find out. I passed with good reports And while it takes less to do, I have been able to download and play the online demo with no problems. Am getting NO help, at least useful help, from EA tech support and am really p****d off at this point. I have tried EA_Metrojacks ideas to pre configure my computer, again, made no difference. Closed all non essential programs in task manager, again no success. Is there something I am missing here. I would REALLY appreciate any help or support. Thanks to everyone!

yeah it is working! OK, I don't really know why, but here is what I did. My computer is a HP 7160-N media center with dual cd/dvd drives. My primary drive is my E drive, which is my cd/dvd drive, the secondary drive is a dedicated dvd drive, if I understand correctly. I loaded the game off of drive F, which is the dvd drive it all loaded fine, and then at the end it told me there was no cd in drive E, my primary cd/dvd drive. I put the disc in the E drive, and it finished installing, and now the game works.
I am no computer guru, but, this worked for me.
Good Luck.

I got the error 1335 message from the DVD version of Crysis and could not get the game to install. I clicked the abort button started over again and some 6 hours later I find myself bleary eyed typing this out. Imagine my surprise when I saw that this was not a unique problem I was having but a widespread catastrophic failure others were having as well. Imagine how much more surprised I was when I tried every fix listed and nothing worked. I have done everything that everyone has listed and nothing has worked. Perhaps the only thing I haven't done is stand on one foot and quack like a duck. However, what I find even more amazing is that this issue has no reliable fix in place.
I am a casual gamer for the most part and have resisted the urge to make the console jump but upon review it seems the games that come out for them are for the most part PLAYABLE when they are released. As a causal gamer my computer knowledge is limited, so I am not going to try reg cleaners, search out temp folders, or other areas of the dark nether regions of my pc to play a game. When can we as your source of employment expect a resolution to this problem? I am sure this game is great which is why I bought it however, if I can't it then I won't keep it.

ok, so does everyone here remember when a ton of people filed a law-suit against Microsoft and Bungie because Halo didnt work on their Xbox 360? Why is it that EA is selling us all these defective games? i have tried everything to get this thing to install. I just spent $50 on something i cant play. How many other people out there has this happened to? As far as i can tell from the forums, its happened to A LOT OF PEOPLE! So why EA, are you selling us stuff we cant play, thats all i want to know.
I always get a .cab error about 3/4 of the way through install.

Hi
I downloaded Crysis via the EA downloader and it gave me the same error. Here's what I did
1)downloaded again and made ceriian not to pause or disrupt it (no re-boot during download)
2)for settings I created a new folder (GameCrysis) and told it to download there
I did a lot of other things and cannot guarantee this but it worked!

Well the game depreciated 10.00 during the wait, but I finally copied the files to an external drive, then when the POS EA installer had errors I would just replace the cab file with a copy from the external HDD and click retry.
It eventually worked! No thanks to EA,
~BTW FU EA!~

Okay here is that I did guys and it worked!!
I had the DVD version
First you need the following:
1x USB Pen with at least 2GB
2x PC's (PC1 & PC2)
1x DVD
First copy/past the whole CD down to your harddisk
then run the AUTO setup to figure out which files theres corupt. (there may be more than one)
After you find those files then take your DVD out of your PC1 and place it PC2.
PC2 will also have the USB pen in it.
Here will you copy the file thats corrupt over to the USB pen.
Then simply take the USB pen with the file(s) and replace them with the files you got on PC1.
Then thats done run the install again. Now should it could read the corrup file but it may find others that you need to do the same thing with.
It took me two files to make it complete the whole thing. File objekt and sound.
Well good luck with it.

ok after extensive 24 straight hours of fighting this install. i tried all techniques listed. no go.
So i went to a computer i had networked to see which program it used to open .cab files. Which is internet explorer under windows on your C drive. i reset
my machine to view these as it should and it installed perfectly with no more errors of any kind. The other way i did a second install was after making the change above, but copied the disk to a hd on another machine and ran the install through my network. worked just fine. No hardware bs no bs with software, just a simple change what program views the .cab file. i hope this helps.
