All football games this year, All-Pro Football, NCAA and Madden 08 will be running at smooth 60 fps on 360, but only at 30 fps for PS3 version.

This is obviously a blow for some gamers like me looking forward to football games on PS3, but may the same blow be thrown to the hockey side?

I guess that EA can join Ubisoft in the "worst developers at porting games" category.

Well it's not just EA, 2K is having problems as well with their football title.

What this means is that it could be an issue for the NHL development team to make the PS3 version of NHL 08 play at 60 fps like the Xbox 360 version.

However, it's easier to make it 60fps in hockey games then football games, and I believe NHL 2K7 was 60 fps.

Why is it more difficult with football games? Is it due to their being more players on the field, and therefore more complicated AI calculations?

why would u say something like that?? You should be blaming EA's laziness than the Playstation. I'm sure NHL 08 will get screwed over too. As long as the precious XBOX gamers are happy EA doesn't care.

First off, I have been very critical of the developers for the NG Madden since NG started. They are below average developers. They actually took a good game from worse consoles and made it worse on better consoles! It took them 3 tries to make Madden 60fps lol! As for APF2k8 (IMO) they get a pass (same with NCAA). They are just starting to work on the PS3 and as we all know it's a bit more difficult to work with then the 360.

This all means nothing if the 1up artical is false which is very possible. They might be saying this just to get more hits on their sight. I remember 1up saying something about a PS3 FW update that was totally false, so take that in mind. I won't believe it until IGN has it posted or EA (lol yeah, like they would post that).

If true, it looks like JOBO will be "Chasing The Cool" (whatever the fck that means? lol) at 30fps.

As for NHL I really hope it is 60fps they at least owe us that. I have a bit more faith in them than EA's football Dev. Team (what a joke they are anymore). Here EA, take a lesson from NHL and fire some of your Madden developers and bring new ones in. NHL suxed a few years ago too until they busted out the firing stick lol.

Nothing even close to what you are saying buddy. Dreamcast failed because of their lack of 3rd party support (like EA sports). Sony will have great 3rd party support until the day they are done making consoles, remember that.

Oh, one more thing. Madden has no competition. If you think of APF 2k8 as competition you need your head checked because everyone wants NFL (some) want 2k football with fake teams and (some) legend players. So EA can feed you trash when it comes to NFL games and you have no choice but to eat it up if you like NFL football.

NHL on the other hand is different. EA has competition. They have to be innovative and have to be quality because they can easily lose to 2k and they know that. I think PS3's NHL will be 60fps just because of that. Plus their developers like I said are light years ahead of Madden's.

PES08 will be better on the PS3, so that tells you that if people want to work a little harder on the PS3 they get more out of it. It's all about effort, some try hard others try harder. It's just a shame that thus far most just try hard.

I really only care about NHL 08's development. Especially after I seen the first video of Madden 08. It's 07 with superstar mode and a roster update. I expected it to suk, so it's not really that much of a disappointment lol.

It basically comes down to budget. It is WAY more simple to write for the 360 than it is for the PS3. And thus, they will spend less on a 360 development and then "port" it to the PS3... Companies that WANT to make a good game, will, and will spend the extra amount of effort and money in doing so.

You really have something against madden eh?

Have you checked out this year version? I think they got the trust of the fanbase and thensome back this year. It's looking extremely tight! So even if I'm playing it at 30 fps, hey. That's what we've been playing all EA Sports games at last year.

But I think it's more complicated then just working hard to get 60 fps for PS3. I'm pretty sure all groups tried very hard to port over 360 to PS3 successfully with 60 fps, but sinc ethe consoles are so different from each with coding, they have to skip it out this year.

And besides, EA has had a extra year to develop for 360, where PS3 is quite different with cell and everything.

I do have something against Madden, you are talking to a guy who has supported Madden and has loved the series since the early 90's! Madden (which is very evident) has gone directly down hill since the exclusive NFL junk. They stopped working hard in my opinion. They stopped being really innovative and even their few innovations have been questionable recently. Madden use to be the total package of gameplay, depth, graphics, with a great touch of innovation. That is the Madden I remember.

Overall some just love the new Madden 08 (most because they are in dier need of a new NFL game and will defend it to the death even if it sux). The recent 08 gameplay video's have been less than impressive to me. The graphics could be better, as could the gameplay and the announcing is horrible! It's maddens game, yet he is no where to be found? It (IMO) looks (and sounds) like a slightly polished Madden 07. I have not been a Madden fan since 2005. Even though I want to be I just cant adjust to a game with less detail and worse gameplay then a game almost 4 years ago on a worse console. I mean 08 does not even have FG nets!!! It may sound like a small complaint but come on! Thats like EA's NHL game not having Glass around the boards lol.

Just no excuse for this!

On the side of gameplay videos. I find them as a grain of salt, because generally they have horrible players playing the easiest level. It truly doesn't show the game any justice. It can only show around the new features they've added.
