Jason,

I noticed in the run down of attribute effects in the goalie section "consistency" is missing.

Can you give any input on this number that seems to range from 0-3?

Was it ever in the cards to leave this decision up to the player? For instance, if you're waiting for the puck to come and you hold the left trigger, you can wind up for a one-timer with down and then blast it with up... something like that?

but... if you do a "double"up on the right stick (two times fast), it makes a direct-slapshot instead of a direct-wrister

add a leadership attribute, the player with the highest is most likely to be a captain, that way it won't always go to the best overall player. Just because you score a lot doesn't mean you should be the captain.

news to me. the earlier you press shoot the more likely you are to get the slap. doesn't matter how many times you press it in my opinion.

I have a question...

Besides adjusting the sliders to our liking, such as game speed and shot power, etc. what does changing the overall difficulty setting do?. I mean, I have my sliders set to my liking on the Pro setting, but I'm scoring too much and am thinking about taking it a step up to All-Star difficulty level. Would leaving my sliders the same and only changing from Pro to All-Star make any difference?.

I'll try to clarify.

If the sliders were left the same, would changing from Pro to All-Star difficulty make a difference?. I guess you could also phrase this way as well ...

If I played on Pro (w/ the sliders to my specifications), and then only changed the difficulty setting (All-Star), keeping everything the exact same as I had in Pro, would there be a difference?.

My apologies for any over complication...

i have a question concerning the star rating given for skate blades and stick blade curves. some of the benefits are obvious as they are shown with the star ratings but if you listen to the "tips" it tells you that different curves affect puck control and different skate blades affect stability--i assume that means balance--is this true and if it does affect these attributes how much does it and which blades and curves do what?

Tommy, if you look earlier in this thread, I'm pretty certain that Jason has already given a really detailed response.

I'll try to find and link it for you.

I was surprised at how much the "stars" related to the player's actual attributes, etc.

Tommy, here's what I found...

This was posted by Redshirt-EA (Jason).

The link posted by Kenjamin12 is an excellent starting point for explaining how the stick effects work. It looks like they went through for every player height/weight combo and figured out how many stars each one gives you. Can't say whether they got every single one right, but it is a straightforward process and given the care they put into the presentation of the data I'd guess they did.

Actually, I think everything in that article is pretty much on the mark, I can only add a couple of details...

The stars do not convert one-to-one into attribute points. For stick flex two and a half stars is neutral and each point above that is worth about three attribute points and each point below is about minus three.

For stick curve it is similar, the only difference being that the effect gets scaled down gradually as the player starting attribute goes up -- so you get less of a penalty or bonus the better you are.

Skate blade radius effects apply a scale factor on your speed, acceleration and agility, again, below 2.5 stars and you will lose pts and above you will gain. The best way to figure out which is best it to try them. The effects should feel pretty clear cut here.

The shot tendency also matters, but I would highly recommend that people start with Mid and get a feel for that before switching. That way you will have decent baseline for comparison. I find having any bias in the shot error targeting really messes me up.

I'm not sure if someone mention it before, but what effect does poise have?

Someone told me that it effects how a players reacts in a certain situation.
For example, if a rookie (or any player) with 70 poise is in on a breakaway or something, he will have a lower chance of scoring because of his low poise.

Is this true?

Jason, what attributes directly affects my player being able to be knocked off the puck? My guy weighs 275 due to the fact weight does not slow you down at all for some reason (oops), so does weight help you from being knocked off the puck? If weight does not slow your player at all, is there any reason not to make my guy this big? Does puck control have anything to do with keeping control of the puck when someone tries to poke/stick lift/check at all, or is this all controlled by balance?thanks.

First, and foremost, thanks Red for this thread.. it was helpful and also the input from the community is a great thing for newer players too...

My question now : when playing with someone on my team (2vs1 Play Now mode), or even sometimes on one-on-one in Play Now, I get a frustrating bug where a One-Timer freezes the receiving player, often sliding past an open net (and a sure goal).

In 3 games last night, my friend and I froze about 7-12 times through it all...

Do you know if it will be addressed in the next patch (if any more are done)?

yeah i read all that stuff about the star ratings but my question was does the skate blades affect balance and do the stick blades affect puck control as suggested by the "tips".
