My solo game play is very slow in between shots. I have dual SLI graphic's which I have shut down, I was wondering if there is any problem with dual processors. If so how could I correct this problem.
I like to play a warm up game before going on line, but it drives me crazy because it is so slow.
Any idea would be great.

Go to C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Players\Your Players Name\Confidence, delete the "HoleType.tcn file".
Restart the game (it will create a new "HoleType.tcn" file in the same location in your My Documents Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 folder). Play one hole, in a non-season event, then exit the game.
Repeat the initial step above, but do not delete the "HoleType.tcn" file. Instead, right-click on it, select Properties, then click the box "Read Only" and then play the game and you slowdowns should disappear.

Only too happy to help, but the real credit for this goes to the fantastic TW PC community who found this workaround....

Holy crap I did this edit trick last night and WOW what an improvement!
Even in tournaments everything runs blistering smooth!!!
Previously I had to unplug from the internet and close down all my anti software just to get it to run at have the pace it is now. Outstanding job to the guys who figured this trick out. THANKS.

slow game play on tiger woods 2008 was making it unusable, i was waiting a minute and a half once i holed a putt and waited for the next green .
i too bought another 2 gig of ram making 4 gig
no difference
pci express twin 512mb sli graphics
3 gig processer.
still no joy.
installed it onto a virtual drive
i tell you it was driving me crazy.
then i found this topic and tried exactly what was said.

Wow, after following the instructions for the fix everything works perfectly now and runs smooth! I got more playing time during my lunch hour just now then I would typically get in a couple of days worth of playing due to the slow loading issue. Next thing I'm going to try is the online play so if there is anything I need to know about that before I actually try it please let me know or point me in the direction of any useful info.

be afraid ... LOL
- everyone starts off with 1500 Rating points, then you lose or gain points when you play others depending on their level and yours
- you also start off with tokens used to pay entry fees to tournaments, get too low and you can't enter tournaments
- disconnecting from a game before it finishes (due to internet problems or on purpose) will increase your disconnect rate and may make it difficult to find a game if it looks like you quit games when you're behind
there are a some players who are only interested in Rated games and winning tokens, take a look at prospective opponents in Match-Ups to see that they're about your level, you can click on Career by their name for more info
but there's also a large number of players just interested in having fun and playing golf, may take a while to find them, but they're there
there's also various websites who sponsor weekly tournaments for their members
you might want to find them and see if you like what they do
in no particular order (he he)
TigerWoods Community - TWC (all levels)
Coursedownloads (all levels)
World Friends Golf (all levels)
ESportsGolf (all levels)
PGAX (expert)
TWTHQ (3click expert)

I tried this, but the game did not speed up at all. Appears to make no difference at all. The wait time at the scorecard is still slow, but it is not always the same. Loading courses and starting the game after setting the file to Ready Only was very long. ????

Are you sure you did it right?
It worked for me.

tried what?
the holetype.tcn file fix?
make sure you are in your player file:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Players\PLAYERNAME\Confidence folder
go back and check that the file is set to Read Only, should be a small file size
(although once it's set to Read Only, the size doesn't matter as much as it is not increasing in size)
otherwise - post your system specs
you may have a very slow PC/video card/inadequate memory
and that will slow things down while the game sets up
are these all courses? stock (comes with game) courses, custom courses?
some custom courses are very slow to load/transition depending on your PC

I just used this fix a few minutes ago,,,and WOW what a difference,,,not just do the holes load faster it seems the whole game does,,,I still have to use a work-around for my dual-core for online play,,,but this was wonderful.

Hi
I tried what you wrote and deleted the file went back into the game, but my golfer (my career player) is no more in and it doesn't create a new file in my Career folder. Even if I copy the old file back into the folder, the player doesn't come back in the game.
Any guesses what I could have done wrong or what to try?
