It should make the game more strategic. So if you level up to Superstar all the positions will be around 80 instead of being forced to play LW all the time. I want to control my poke checks and stick lifts without the game deciding whether I can match up against the offensive player and miss a bunch of times or actually help them score a goal. With that said, combining buttons like poke check and saucer pass is redundant. If the right analog is to control the stick, then you should be able to move it freely to cause deflections (for and against goals), poking, intercepting passes rather than just interfering with a pass because you were in the lane. Things like dribbling the puck would advance the game. Possibly a mini game in between periods to try and motivate the players for the next period instead of everyone getting into fights that hurt rather than help. The biggest problem I have is that I don't know whether I, my team or the game caused an error. Your best bet is to take a solid year developing another few months testing and release the game a year after that and build a really good game. 2K is gone there really is no pressure.

I see what you're saying here, but I do not want that at all. I don't want Stamkos to be just as good as Filatov just because they're both snipers. The real problem is that the gap between the superstars and the 4th liners is not big enough. This causes all of the players to have the same feeling when you're playing with them. When I'm playing with Malkin, I want to FEEL like I'm playing with Malkin. On the same note, though, when I'm playing with Jody Shelley, I want to FEEL like I'm playing with Shelley.

Use similar lineup screen like we have in HUT (with pictures and all that) that old lineup screen with just plain text is becoming just too old.
Line chemistry
Hot / cold streaks

THIS. Dead on. Honestly, just this alone would make me SO happy.

Agreed!! How about instead of ridding of attributes, they at least make hot and cold streaks that are open to change always, throughout a players entire career. This would give some more realism. So if Ovechkin has a bad season in my GM mode, maybe he slowly drops and then the next season he starts at an 87 or 88, instead of still being a 90 overall superstar. It stinks that a player's attributes are unchangeable (not counting progression from potential). And so if some 83 overall winger like brad marchand has a great season, maybe he becomes an 85, BUT then drops again to 83 after starting the next season without a goal in his first 10 games. This would be even more crucial when it came to goalies. Look at the real-life Mike Smith. Would you say that Smith was playing like an 83 overall goalie right now in real life? Of course not, he's easily up at 85 or 86. This would stop people from looking strictly at attributes (because truthfully that's all that matters), and would instead make people start looking at STATS and how good a particular player did the previous season---which is kind of what GM's do in real life. You know what I mean??

Yes! Line chemistry! I just added that to my big Be A GM list of improvements on page 13 of this thread.

The hot and cold streaks thing is also on my Be A GM improvements list on page 13 of this thread.

Goalies and Defensive AI

Please please make it so that weak little backhand shots from the point are no longer extremely effective and un-interceptable. This happens all the time. The CPU when under pressure will turn around and loft it on net, and the puck will go right by several of my defending players, who can only watch it, and it will hit my goalie's pads and then get tapped in by an opponent. It's frustrating. My players should take the puck with ease. AND my goalie should just say..."okay..." and then stop it with his glove.

Also, who programmed this game's defensive ai? I'm not going to bash, but I just want to express my extreme frustration at how defenseman just skate backwards into the CREASE sometimes. They just keep skating back and back as far as they can go until they hit the goalie sometimes, allowing oncoming puck carriers to literally drive it straight to the slot. There should be more pressure from defensive ai. I literally have to play this game with the CPU's acceleration slider up one higher than mine just to keep it competitive.

The shortside-glitch. This desperately needs to be fixed. Goalies act absurdly when a puck carrier takes it out from behind the net. They sometimes will literally slide over and give the opposing player the short side to shoot in. Also, there is this strange animation where a goalie will slide in the opposite direction while trying to make a casual save. I'm not sure why this happens but it is quite annoying.

This list applies to Be A GM Mode

More training options
For example, a lot of young players need to add strength and bulk but there is no training for that. And another one is face-offs, a lot of young player are bad at face-offs and need to work on it. Those are two options I would like to see added.

CPU teams manage their teams more realistically
Too many NHL players get left in the minors or placed on waivers during the season and some young players get NHL positions early and force the veterans into the minors.
More realistic trades between CPU teams. Toronto traded to Dallas Kulemin, Armstrong and MacArthur for Daley, Grossman and Fistric and then Toronto placed Gunnarsson and Gustavsson on waivers. None of that would actually happen.

More personality to the players.
Dekes specific to that player, especially in shootout.
Players that chew their mouthguard.

A Deflection button.
Not only would this be useful for scoring goals but when a defenseman shoots the puck up the ice the forward often deflects it to negate the icing.

Realistic ratings for CHL teams.
Draft Eligible players need to be higher rated and given more realistic potential.

The Top Prospects game should be held in February like it is in real life and should be played in a CHL teams building.

Too many players retire and retire young at that.
I don't know the exact number of retirements per year but in NHL games there are way too many and a lot of the players retire young.

Ability to edit contracts.
When a player signs a contract extension I want to be able to go in and edit the contract myself rather than wait for EA to release the update. Also, the option of year to year salaries and 2-way deals that become 1-way deals in the final year.

Realistic Entry Level Contracts.
Currently EA uses the actual salary of the player rather than the cap hit. Entry Level deals often have a cap hit much higher than the actual salary due to the possibility of bonuses being awarded.
1st round picks often have cap hits that range from 3.775 million to 1.100 million dollars but are almost always set at $900,000 which creates unrealistic cap space for NHL teams.
There should also be an option to add buyout salary to NHL team budgets for starting Be A GM mode.

Really I should have clearly stated that those opinions were for online. I can see attributes needed for offline or HUT when using and being those players are important. Another idea is to be able to tie up the man on the back check or when racing for the puck rather than trying to make a hit and miss.

This just happened to me and I'd like to have it fixed in NHL 13: Make the defensive ai actually try to knock you off the puck when you're skating right beside the freakin guy lol. I was able to just skate next to him as he slowly skated straight back into the crease with me (which still boggles my mind btw), allowing me to score easily. 1-on-1's essentially become breakaways. Make it easier to be knocked off the puck, and then make the defense actually do it! But still make sure the CPU's offensive ai can still score! I want to be losing games 7-0 when NHL 13 comes out , as I will inevitably "figure it out" as I do each year, which, with 7-0 games, will translate to actual competition lol.

Here's a good one. It just happened to me again. Make it so that it doesn't freeze every other game. That'd be nice.

Eashl
Amateur should not be playing a pro team.
Amateur plays amateur, Elite plays elite
When I try to hit somebody with high attributes I just bounce off them! make it a little more real

- A lot lower puck control, especially on Hardcore, this is the most important point by far

- Lower pass reception ease

- More pressure on the puck carrier

- Better defensive AI

- Full collision detection where even small contacts without having to use the right stick affect the puck carrier

- True stick physics to avoid sticks going through things like legs, skates, other sticks, puck

- All sliders with a scale from 0 to 100 to have a full customizable gameplay

- Hardcore game style should provide a real simulation and sloppy gameplay

1) Let us skate with the cup - It is long past time for a real Stanley Cup celebration to be included

2) Add depth to BAGM. Like an internal salary cap set by the owner along with the season expectations. The ability to control ticket prices, merchandise, sponsorships (like along the boards), etc... Coaches at NHL and AHL level. Player hot/cold streaks during a season. Player emotions and negotiation behavior (like demanding more money and ice time if he's underused, talented vets wanting to leave for a contender, you guys know what we're looking for.

3) Little details: Maybe white out jerseys in profile pics so a guy looks right anywhere, fix the vanishing of all other humans during a fight, eliminate the first-person fighting*, allow us to create and substitute AHL teams just like NHL teams to begin BAGM, maybe allow the importation of real profile pics to BeAPro players. New cut scenes (NOT MORE scenes, just more variation). Make fighting LOOK and FEEL like real fighting.

4) SCRUMS!

5) Keep more stats history. I want to be able to see career stats for all my players, you could even include the specific team he was with, as opposed to just the league. Allow the trends in a player's stats (along with progression) to play a factor in contract or trade negotiations. Allow negotiations and discussion for trades.

6) GOAL HUGS!

One more stupid one: call the guys who make RPGs, and have them whip up one of those conversational mini-games where you must stand before the Shanahammer after a cheap shot and try to negotiate down your punushment.
