Ok folks, tell me how do you handle Wolf Creek's hole #7. This hole kicks my butt damn near everytime I play it.

I know that alot of you have mastered this hole as indicative of the double eagles (1), eagles (46), birdies (110) and pars (59). These numbers, by the way, were posted at the time I was playing the course.

I know that most of the answers will involve, depending on the wind conditions. So, include in your comment, the wind as a factor.

For example, off the tee I can drive 330 yards (Lee Trevino, "I'm boomin' 'em. baby"). The winds are currently blowing 1 to 5 mph NW. And I am 303 yards to the pin. And the pin location is left center.

I'd say those stats are for a normal par 5.
1/2 birdies is a pretty normal stat for a par 5.

Length definitely helps.I hit it about the same distance as you and without a helper wind from that distance I'm not getting there.
This is where those 3 party controllers come into play.Another 10yds or so off the tee and you're inside 290.If you can drive it that far then you can probably hit your 1 iron far enough for the second shot and there you go.

If there was a double eagle as indicated then I'd say they either had a decent wind behind or had a pretty low sweetspot.

Also let's not forget Amateur mode where spinning and boost can add a bunch to your distance.Of course if you're in Tour mode then that won't matter.

Depending on the wind and whether it's tour pro or not plays a huge factor on this hole. For me in Tour its a full lofted 85% driver, and AM it's a full lofted 3 wood 114% or so. I know there are many diff ways to play this hole but for me those are what I play and have had 1 hole in one in tour and 3 in AM playing it that way.

Hole #7. This hole is hit by using a 1 Iron, full boost (113-115%) lofted slightly, about ohhhh 1/4 or so.

That would be on average greens, medium pin setting. Adjust as necessary for various pin placements/green settings.

ETA: I blew a shot on this tourney today. So I finished one off the leader and at the time that was only one person

Wasn't hole 7 though

Guess I should look at the hole before I answer next time...
From the way you were talking I was thinking it was a par 5....lol

I can't hit my one iron far enough to get to that green unless the wind is significantly behind.
What I usually hit is either a lofted driver in the 80's or a 3 wood with just a tad bit of loft.
If you can get the 3 wood over the ravine you don't want it to hit too far onto the green or it'll go right over.

Hey Philinmedfod, thanks for the tip. One thing though, since I am on a PS3 console, as near as I know, there is no measurement of degrees, other than the standard 0 to 100%

I actually like Wolf Creek, (though #7 is by far my least favorite hole to play on this course.... ). It was named by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 Courses you can play. Ranked #60. Green Fees $100-$185 - http://www.golfwolfcreek.com

IronCityFanatic, seeing that you are on a PS3 console, how do you achieve the additional percentage?

By "degrees" do you mean the additional 13-15%? I'm not sure what button it would be on the PS3 but there must be one that you tap to get additional power.

I was speaking of amateur mode and how I played that hole (calm winds) the other day. The additional power is achieved through power boost; rapidly pressing 'X' while swinging. The tempo of your taps will determine how much you boost your power. Additionally, the range of power boost is set by the level of your power attribute.

I live in Las Vegas, and a buddy I just played golf with yesterday played it for $75. I odn't think I would ever want to play that course. I would lose two sleeves if I went there.
