I haven't seen the complete review, but the snippets I've read are a bit disconcerting.
"Almost none of the key gameplay features - use of Focus, draw and fade shots, aiming - work in conjunction with the controller, meaning your stroke-making abilities feel more neutered...
The Focus business wouldn't be a big deal to me, but how are you supposed to play draws and fades? Is the game really coded to have the swingplane pull draws and fades?
"You also can't impart spin, add extra power"
This won't affect me, but I can see where this would be a game killer for fans of Amateur mode play.
"or even navigate menus using Move - only with the pad."
I didn't expect to navigate menus with the Move, so no big deal here.
This seems to be confirming my hunch that Move support is going to be relatively superficial this iteration. As an add-on, it's not something the game design had in mind during its planning stages. I hope it's not as empty an experience as the OPM reviewer suggests when the article is concluded with: "it won't take to long before you simply drop the controller altogether." The review score gets revised thusly:
Without Move: 7/10
With Move: 4/10
Ouch... pretty harsh!
This could be a case of a the reviewer not having a complete set of instructions and/or not enough lab time with the device.

Could be they just didn't know how to use it.
Draw and Fade would be accomplished by the swing and turn of the wrists like on the Wii.He might have been looking for a button. At least that's how it should work.
I can't believe EA would make the controller usable in game and then not give you a way to use features of the game.It would seem that that would be basic to adding game support.

Sounds like a typical review from someone who doesn't know how to use the Move in-game, especially with the comments about fade, draw, boost, spin.....can't wait to get the Move as mine is pre-ordered and paid for.....

Am I correct in assuming that to use the Move device, you are required to also have the camera, as the splash screen depicts?

Yes, the Move uses the PS3 camera.

Does anyone know if the Move will work with a camera other than the PS3 one?

Preview for TW11 with move on IGN
Claims John Daly game is better
"Despite the impressive nature of playing Tiger Woods 11 on Move in all its HD glory, John Daly's ProStroke Golf seems to make better use of the Move's abilities. It delivers the first-person view that is sure to become a standard for golf titles that leverage the hardware, and it doesn't have some of the oddities that Tiger Woods presents.”

Thanks for the link. I'm not surprised to find that JDPSG might fare better with the motion controller. It's had considerably more time in the development cycle with it.
I also found it amusing that the previewer is still suffering from the "True-View/True-Aim" identity crisis. Remember how we went through that here? I got told over and over again that the PS3 and 360 versions did have "True View" by forum goers who used the terms True-View and True-Aim interchangeably, when they are drastically different in appearance and execution. Anyway, the previewer says the PS3 version lacks the "TrueAim" feature that makes the Wii version so special.... (sigh), it's "True-View" that the PS3 and 360 versions lack. I agree with the thought that True View is a vital part of the motion controller experience, having experienced it for myself now on a Wii, with Tiger Woods 11.

After watching the IGN video review of the The Move in TW11 PS3 I do not regret my preorder of the Move and purchase of TW11 PS3 (also NHL11 360). Not having Tru View in TW11 PS3 Move is not a deal killer for me (although I can't wait to see it in TW12).
I traded in my Wii system and peripheals, TW11 360 & Wii versions which paid for everything.
I will be preordering John Daly's Pro Stroke Golf when I pick up NHL11 tomorrow.

I'll say one thing, the IGN video showed me there's more going on with the Move in TW 11 than the hit & run OPM re-review suggests! My thing with the lack of True View has as much to do with my desire for True View in the PS3/360 version, motion controller or not. However, after finally experiencing Tiger Woods 11 on the Wii a few weeks ago, True View (or a similar first person perspective) has been permanently associated with the motion controller experience. What's odd is that I found that I looked at a spot on the ground until impact when I tried the Wii version, so I really only get on board with the first-person experience for part of the ride.

I've still got JDPSG at the top of my Gamefly Queue for the XBox 360. However, if I owned a PS3 and a Move, I have no doubt I'd preoder it as well. I have a hunch it will be worth its $49.95 price tag, based on the load of hands-on previews I've read and viewed.
I've got to get back to work on the NHL 11 demo. I've been doing a bit more reading here and there that have helped explain why I'm so clueless about how to handle passing in this game! I tell you what though... the game flow is exquisite!
BTW Mark, what ultimately closed the book on the Wii version of TW 11 for you? Was it the 480p graphics? I hate to sound like a graphics elitist, but I started noticing how blocky the graphics were in my play session on a 56" display, and I couldn't help but wonder how long it would be before I couldn't accept it anymore. I love TOCA 3 for the XBox... it's still my favorite console racer of all time, but I can't take it on my 56" HDTV. It looks fine on 25" monitor, however.

I too do not look at the screen until after my swing even when I'm putting. I'm like you in that I would like a modified TruView where it starts out first person view and then I can switch camera views anytime after the swing (i.e., snap to reverse landing, broadcast view, etc.). Or better yet, move my golfer around like you can in FPS.

I think I've read somewhere that there will be difficulty levels that will make the game accessible to the broadest market. Hopefully, the game will sell well enough to be healthy competition to the TW series.

IGN has a good video review of NHL 11: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1117242p1.html
Nate explains the passing which is a little different this year. Basically, the longer you hold the trigger the stronger the pass.

The graphics on the HD consoles have always been a strong point for the TW series (IMO). Like you, the 480p graphics just don't cut it on my 50" HDTV. I don't consider myself a graphics you-know-what but, I just can't go back to PS 2 type graphics anymore.

Nice! That's the best look I've gotten at the layout of the Move to date. Paula really seems to be digging the spirit of the Move and the game for what it is... that helps.
