Munchkin Actor To Get Wisconsin Burial


The recently deceased Wisconsin native who portrayed the Munchkin coroner in "The Wizard of Oz" will be buried near his Jefferson County hometown.

The public is welcome to attend a visitation on Tuesday for Meinhardt Raabe. It begins at 10 a.m. at Imanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington, with a funeral service to begin at 11.

Raabe parlayed his role in the 1939 classic film into a lifelong avocation, appearing at Oz festivals around the country. He also worked for 30 years as a spokesman for the Oscar Mayer Co.

He is believed to have been one of the last surviving Munchkins.
