How much did Ben pay EA to make him look that skinny?

Ive spotted a couple i see a towel on ben and think the chain gang over in the corner and the refs just the things i notice from first glance

The chain gang, the ref, the towel, the water table...Unfortunately, the players on the sideline STILL look as bland and untouched as they did in Madden 2001!

Wow... I see so many things right in this picture that I'm really amazed. It looks like 08's player models (But more realistically porportioned) with 09's detail as far as graphics. I see several things people complain about in here, too like the field towel and refs. Since there is that blurred distance effect in the shot, I can't really tell if the sideline is more lively or not, but they definitely look more detailed and less cartoonish. Don't know if you can interact with them or not, but they look better to me so far.

This picture is AWESOME! I just hope it isn't this week's madden 10 update instead of details like normally on insideblog.com. It's great, but I really rather read about some of the specifics also.

P.S I hate quick updates(especially after waiting a week).

Oh, the only thing "bad" I guess, is that the grass is still flat lol. It looks good, but you gotta admit that even for a football field, that grass is really flat. But it's not a big issue though, so don't worry.

Until there's actual gameplay footage screen shots are nothing more than "what they'd like to achieve". The towels and refs are such petty stuff for an improvement I can't believe some of you are excited about them. Look! There's a booger in his nose. GREAT DETAIL EA! Now how about the gameplay issues you haven't solved in years?

Also notice the Super Bowl patch on Ben's shoulder. But I agree with Mewes, it's the gameplay that matters most.

What about the cleats..

They are different colours e.g. Black and Grey on different players. If they have a greater selection of cleats that would be awesome.

Can you take the picture for what it is please? It's a picture to show improvement in graphics and presentation, nothing more. Gameplay is more important, we know that, the developers know that. This picture has nothing to do with that, so take it for what it is, impressed or not, but don't degrade the update because it's picture and a full grown gameplay video. I mean, I agree, but geez, it's a picture meant to show visuals, not to show how great the game will play, just how great it will look.

For sure. There are a bunch of gameplay related blogs out there already as well. Have you guys had a chance to check those out also?

Like you said, it's just a picture. You don't need a game to make a picture. So some here are drooling over a piece of art and not the game itself.

Hey Rac, is this going to be this week's only madden 10 update? Or is there still one for insideblog later today? I mean, Phil posted the pic, Ian could still do what he does every week, but I'm not sure. Busy people need breaks, but I'm really hoping there's a written update as well.

So far you guys are catching many of the details of that shot. Several have yet to be noticed though.

We'll be following this shot up with a graphics blog from our Art Director Mike Young in a couple of days. If you don't spot all of the changes by then, he'll point them out for you.

It's an image for marketing. Somebody went into their little digital art program and added a ton of things people have been crying for that do nothing for how the game is played and they posted it for a reaction. A "look, we listen" moment.

Another game I've been highly anticipating was dropping images just like this as well as "gameplay videos" nearly 2 years before it's release date. Now that we're a couple months away the actual game itself looks like 1/10 of what the initial visual information claimed the game would be.

I won't be impressed until we see some real game footage.
