yes but i can and do move my mouse side to side to compensate for a smaller peripheral field. but you can't compensate for the target being farther away. at the 55 setting i can shoot at someone without going to the sights while at 95 you'll need a scope to see that far.

I hear what he is saying..I don't care much about FOV..I want more DOV... I need distance.. I hate seeing barrels etc pop up in front of me when i get ten feet away.. how do i get the distance to show more detail?

i remember a time when i could set mine to 0 (zero)...it actually gave you a magnification 2 or 3 times that of being zoomed in...awesome for sniping or VOPTICS with UAV...
but now i think they re-set your FOV to 45, no matter what you put in.

Here you can calculate your correct FOV.
http://www.rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php
I hope this help.

This IS the best way in -theory- to find out what setting one must have to get the desired degrees depending on monitor resolution. BUT..
I think for everybody the question is.. which are the desired degrees FOR Bfbc2.
I think 90 degrees are the best. People I know play bfbc2 using for ex. 1680X1050 with 55 FOV(original setting gives 79 degrees FOV). These people say that 55 is the best because any other makes aiming far targets difficult. Others including me, think 65 is the best for this resolution because I'm not of a bunny-hopping-cocroach type player (not a camper as well).. and maybe aiming is very slightly(for me) better at 55, my extra 10 degrees of view compensate. To use an FOV setting bigger, meaning that you would get more than 90 degrees view.. I think for this game is not the best way to go.. However, I was using 74 for a time an I saw that in maps with jungle and snow it was better.. u could spot easily noobs and kill them before they could see you, however when facing skilled opponents that anticipate and aim with lower FOV, to get cover first would be be the best solution instead of a full frontal, and that was when I changed it to 65. If you play in full HD FOV 59 gives the full 90 degrees. I would choose that.
Summarizing, depending on how you play the game, what resolution, and how well you aim, practice with different settings and find out which is best for you. 55, 59, 65, 70...

same here.. 23 inch Asus, 1080P--55 seems best. If I was running a 32 incher or better I would no doubt run a larger FOV, but for this monitor 55 seems right.
