DICE Announces $15 Price for Battlefield 1943

Premium Arcade Title Delivers Endless Hours of Multiplayer Fun, Legendary WWII Battlefield Action and Destruction

STOCKHOLM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ:ERTS), today announced that Battlefield 1943™ will be available in June for $15 USD in the Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace (1200 MS Points) or the PlayStation®Store. The action-packed arcade title will also be available for PC in September. Battlefield 1943 is an all-new multiplayer game that offers endless hours of 24-player action in popular maps inspired by Battlefield 1942™, now updated with the Frostbite™ engine. The total destructibility afforded by the Frostbite engine ups the ante and leaves players with nowhere to hide.

In Battlefield 1943, intense battles ensue over three classic and tropic locations; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Gamers play as the US Marines or the Imperial Japanese Navy, competing by land, air and sea. Players have the freedom to pick their path in battle - be it as a rifleman crawling through the trenches, a steel fisted tank commander, or a dog fighting pilot that protects the skies.

“Using the same Frostbite engine that we developed for Battlefield: Bad Company, we are able to take players back to WWII and return to the roots of the Battlefield franchise, but with a new twist – destruction,” said Gordon Van *, Producer on Battlefield 1943. “We want to offer gamers the most accessible online shooter experience and the best value found in any premium download title with Battlefield 1943.”

Do you want a port or do you want a PC version? If we are to do a proper PC version we need the completed game and then time to make a PC version from that, so how is that hosing PC players? I guess we're damned if we do and damned if we don't with you guys, but be careful because that attitude can make people very jaded if it hasn't already!

Does this mean that the PC version will have more maps and features than the console arcade version?

And I certaintly appreciate you guys putting more time into it anyways.

If I had followed the investment advice of CNBC, I'd have a million dollars! Provided I had started out with a hundred million dollars.

This is weak as heck.

Don't advertise a summer release if you're not going to follow through, DiCE.

Yes you have ditched the PC fans that once supported you and your products.

Now DICE you are all but a lame puppet of EA and Corporate greed.

Enjoy your gayboy consoles and poke your BF1943 where the sun dont shine.

For the past 2 months or so, you've (DiCE) been advertising the game for a summer release with 0 indication that the PC version will be released later. Now all of a sudden we're being told you were only talking about the console versions.

DiCE and PC gamers are on thin ice as it is. You can't honestly say you didn't drop the ball here; even a little?

Yup Gordon, I prefer to wait and then get a nice PC version that is not dumbed down

Modding PC games (mostly BF series) since 1942. And yes, that was MY pun, before EA stole it for the BC2 teaser

What utter rubbish.

There is no reason the PC version could not have been made concurrently. What you did was decide you didn't want to devote extra resources to a $15 title to achieve a concurrent PC development of 1943.

That is, you prioritized console development. That is, PC players got hosed.

You really don't get it, do you?

The reason the PC version was probably delayed is because of the outcry from the PC community that they want a full game. Now, they put in the extra time and resources JUST FOR YOU, and you ungrateful little bastards are mad anyways. You didn't want 1943. You didn't like the regen health, the lack of depth in the game. So, here they are giving you what you want, and you still don't like it. Why does DICE even bother with you guys.

No, I don't think console gaming was prioritized. The game was probably being developed for all 3 platforms, but since the PC community wanted a full game, here you go. And honestly, you can't wait an extra few months? It's is a game for god's sake. Many of you have said you would rather have something than nothing and here you go. What is the problem?

uzbec you are making a lot of assumptions over how different the PC game will be. A LOT of assumptions, we haven't been told that the PC will be a full game in any way!

Exactly, and by the way Whiteflour, Sibben said that most of the players on consoles are 25-35 years old, so I would like that you stop lying.

Console Kids doesn't really refer to their age, it means their mental level.
