Dear PC Gamer(s),

I know you might feel disappointed about the PC release being in September rather than June, but you should be very happy to know this is to give us the proper development time to create a proper PC version of Battlefield 1943 and not a console port. To the contrary of some less informed fans out there this is in no means an intentional ploy to punish our PC fans. And is in fact quite the opposite, we want to make the best damn PC version we can for our PC fans!

Not to bore your eyes out with endless text about the how's and do's I will say to make this a proper PC version we need a completed core game to develop over and remember we already released Battlefield Bad Company with the Frostbite Engine on the consoles, so this will be first PC game ever released using Frostbite! PCs are an open platform requiring additional features, support, technical consideration, and can't just be thrown out there using copy/paste. We have thought very carefully about this decision and in the long run felt it was the right choice even though we knew we'd catch some flak for it, but we feel once you play the first Frostbite PC game ever from DICE you'll see why we put this extra time and care in on the development making all right again in the universe. I hope this helps clear things up better and answers your concern(s).

Sincerely,

Gordon Van **** (The company that I work for thinks my last name is naughty!)
Battlefield 1943 Producer

I'm not bothered by the Sept. release, I'm all for it! I know you guys will make a very good PC version. Will the PC version have a lot more feature and players and if so will the price go up? If this happens I'm willing to pay $30 for it.

Thanks for the heads up, looks like my twitter rant was successful . While I understand the reasons (I ever did that) I still dont understand why this has to be done after the console release.

Thanks for coming out and speaking about it, at first I was very very angry and about an hour ago I retracted all my comments, because I realized you guys will make it worth the wait, and made the decision to ensure you did it right. I still feel you created the game for consoles first. There really is no other way to see it. As it stands, the PC is not being treated as a priority, although that is how it is trying to be spun.

Will it be identical maps/weapons/featurewise?

It only took a half hour to port Frostbite to Directx.

Yes, great trailer. Makes it even harder to wait till September. I have to resist to buy that game on XBL. I just have to...

This is absolutely reasonable. Like I said in the other thread, I prefer to wait and then get a nice PC version that is not dumbed down. Also, wasn't 1942 originally released in september? That would fit! Can't wait.

Love the new trailer as well. Remixing the original theme music was an excellent idea, I hope you guys release the updated theme at one point

Modding PC games (mostly BF series) since 1942. And yes, that was MY pun, before EA stole it for the BC2 teaser

Wow, Van Dyk3 has 16 posts. I guess the PC gamers produced enough rage to drive him to response here. Hey Dyk3 I loved your run-around responses in those interviews on when Bad Company 1 was going to get better voice comms and clan support. You still looking into that? Still seeing if it's technically possible after all these months? No? Just going to put it in BC2 eh? Smart, make everyone buy that instead of improving upon the original. I like your business first style buddy. [/sarcasm]

It's funny to see the xbox 1943 videos on gamestop have like 4 comments, all of them complaining the combat looks like a joke.

Shouldn't have strung everyone along with the "sumer release" thing. All the good intentions in the world doesn't change the fact that consoles are getting the game 3 whole months before PC and that the PC release date is well after the Summer Holidays.

Though I still have hopes that you will consider an open beta during the summer holidays to make up for it.

That is correct. The whole thing is about "June" or "Summer" now. But not for us (PC gamers) It is just depressing to see more and more devs forgetting the PC audience. We too watch trailers and we also want to be officially spoken to. While I can not talk for the whole community, I think many PC gamers just feel like forsaken.

Sorry for my bad english btw.
