While the FIA GT had the Silverstone race this weekend under normal GT rules, two cars were running on the new 2010 International GT rules. These car were the new Matech-Ford GT1 and the Nissan GT-R.

Who won this battle? I am very proud to say Nissan GT-R bit the big one due to suspension problems in the rear, puncturing a tire and they did what? Retired!.

Whoot! Go Matech-Ford GT1!!!

Good work, Ford. Way to beat that Nissan.

And if they didnt pull out, the GT would have got it's head sliced off, nice and cleanly too.

Well yeah, because an unproven GTR V-Spec can beat the pants off a 40 year old design that has remained competitive with virtually no changes. That always happens.

In Candyland.

the new gt 40 is much different them it was in the 60s. the gtr is still a good car, though. and if i last checked, this isnt candyland

I don't care how much horsepower that car has if it dosent have a stick shift

How is it different? Double wishbone suspension, 5.0L with supercharger, and steel body, with the same aerodynamics. Admittedly the technology under the hood has gotten way better which makes it different but on paper it looks the same.

Just one of those examples where paper just falls flat again. Get it? Paper, flat?

no, it isnt funney. in the old gt, it was strictley for racing. the new gt is more for on the street, so it has stuff like rool up windows( in the old gt, they dident go up, it was just a flip out picece of glass.) air bags, and other stuff we hardely notice today. if the body was the same, it would never pass for saftey standards.

But we're discussing a GT car to a GT car. Not the road worthy Ford GT.

I know that. the body then was made of steel and magnseam. the new one has more stuff like carbon fibar. the old gt dident have costom rims or a really big spoiler, either

Uhh, the old one was made of straight steel. No magnesium in it. And rims mean nothing. There's like 20,000 rims out there and 100 of them all do the same thing. And the original GT had spoilers depending on the class they were racing.

When the current GT is based off the road version and the road version was heavily dependent (based off of Ford's releases and multiple media outlets) then it means very little has changed.

How can little have changed? i thas been a long time sience the old gt came out, and somthing had to change. it is inpossable for a car to be the same and still be competive in racing

btw, the magnesim was in the rims of the old one. (I think, but I am not sure)

@herbienut

Because...
A) It wasn't made by Ford for over 30 years.
B) Ford wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible while still keeping it up to code. (Note: Bumper regulations haven't become any more stringent than they were in the '60's. They were for awhile but then were relaxed again for sack of material costs.)
