Every other sports game includes ALL active players: NBA Live, Madden, etc. Why then do tennis games never include more than a handful of players, including retired players, when there are well over 200 active men's and women's players on the tour. Apparently we will STILL be waiting for a game where the tournament draw is different every time, where you play through all the rounds of a tourney, facing journeymen and qualifiers in the early rounds. I was excited about this game because it has all the Grand Slam events, but I will NOT be buying it until they include a complete roster of players! Would people keep buying the Madden franchise if only 20% of the players were included in the game?

What tennis game has ever included all active players? This isn't Madden. If 20% of players were in Madden then you wouldn't be able to play the game.

Your argument makes no sense at all. You cannot compare team sports to individual sports like boxing, golf and tennis. The reason that the NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL games have all or most of the players is due to licensing agreements with their respective players associations. The other games have to sign players individually.

If you're waiting for a tennis game to have "all of the players" then you will never buy a tennis video game. It's that simple.

Well fight night shows that you can at least have a good sized roster,

If a tennis game had all those players they would all be generic...you have to sacrifice somethings

I'd rather have Andy Roddicks accurate service and Forehand motion as opposed to Philip Kohlschrieber (no offense to Kohli fans)

I think EA could have done a bit more with the roster tbh I mean the legends are great but not perfect but people still want to see a lot of current players... We have what the top 4, number 6, number 8 and two people who wont even be seeded in a grand slam correct me if im mistaken and for the women they have 4 current players I mean with EA's wealth they shoudl surely be able to give us the top 10 for each and then use those legends as a bonus. Atm theres more legends than current players... I mean lets give ea some credit this is there first attempt if people by this game I can guarantee we will get more players more events and quite simply spend more. Heres hoping people buy this game because with motion+ this game game looks brilliant.

Nishikori made it to 4r of the US, that's not bad at all for a little japanese guy, he's got game but he's injury prone right now

He's got wins over Berych, Blake, and Ferrer, Sam Querrey

Took a set off Nadal at queens

Hell the he's my age, were both 19 and born in 89

So you are saying that because tennis isn't a team sport I shouldn't want it to be inclusive of all active players? THAT is an argument that does not make sense. I have played Virtua Tennis and do not enjoy facing the same 10 players in every tournament. Let me put it to you another way - would you enjoy Madden or NBA Live if they only contained 10 teams? You could still play games because the teams that were included would still have their full roster, but you could only play an 8 game season and play the same teams every season - what a blast that would be. Somehow they managed in NBA Live to give every player in the league a realistic look and give signature moves to the star players, so I don't understand why they don't do the same in tennis. Fine-tune Nadal, Federer, Roddick, etc. with special moves, but still give me Taylor Dent and Mardy Fish to at least be able to play a complete Wimbledon! Apparently you are not interested in the same complete experience that I have been dreaming of for a tennis game since they started coming out.

You are certainly entitled to WANT those things from a video game. That is your prerogative. What I am saying is that you cannot make the comparison between the team and individual sports because the rules regarding their inclusion in the games are different.

The reality is that all of the teams and almost all of the players are included in team sport video games. There hasn't been a tennis game with all players and there never will be. It's highly unlikely you'll ever see a tennis video game with the Top 100 players in the world because in the end it's probably not worth the money to the developer to pay 100 individual license fees.

Maybe so, but I can't imagine that it costs a fortune to get the licensing rights to David Nalbandian or Nicholas Kiefer. Outside of the top ten I'm sure EA could get them fairly cheaply and I have no idea what they pay to the NFLPA to get the rights to all the players for comparison. Still, 23 players including men and women just seems weak to me. Even if the game contained the players that they have and then rounded out the ladder with fictional or user created players to have a complete pool then they would have a much better game.

I'm okay with the roster. It is what it is, I guess. I do hope that in the career mode we will see some fictional players. I'm not even asking for a full 128 seed draw but I hope that we can compete against more than just the real players during tournaments.

it really is unreasonable to expect EA to get the rights to ALL of the current top players, for both male and female. however i do find the current roster a little underwhelming. where's verdasco, gonzalez, davydenko, del potro and simon? it stands to reason that EA should attempt to get at least the top 10 ATP and WTA players, that way the final stages of tournaments can reflect what could actually happen in real life. but whatever, they could be working on players they've yet to announce, so lets keep our fingers crossed. even so, ill settle with the current announced roster as long as they manage to nail the tennis mechanics (Ala top spin 3 but with smoother, a little faster and more refined gameplay) and court presentation.

Ok good I also hope new players are added.

I would like to see that tournaments at least have 4 rounds. If there aren't enough real players to fill the roster, they should use some fictional ones. It's no fun when you have to play against the same characters all the time. Especially since there aren't a lot of ladies in the roster.
