say it aint so.

when GS was announced, i was stoked.

then little by little, no new features were announced.
meanwhile VT09 has revealed nice things

lets look at how they compare.

Looks wise:

GS has a stylized approach which is a slight edge over the same ol same old realism.

Courts:
VT OWNS GS.
No contest
40 to liek 12 or something.

Players:
Due to the legends, which are the ones i know GS gets the edge.
But the fact that there r hidden players in VT, its a tie.

Modes?:
Ummm
is this even fair lol
VT

How could GS make a career mode so pathetic?
Just the four grands slams?
really?

i work at a pretty busy gamestop in NY, and i will not allow anyone to walk out with GS tennis by Ea.
Not in good conscious.

Your going to purposely prevent a company from making money because a game that isn't released doesn't seem to appeal to you?

Thats a pretty assholish thing to do don't you think?

All those things you mentioned were nice..but you left out gameplay? one thing i've seen in GST that you barely see in VT? the word "out"

I'll be purchasing both but what you plan to do is silly

Looks like VT3 with a new coat of paint imho

GS has 1:1 motion, VT doesn't. Though I don't know if this will really mean anything in terms of enjoyment.

Virtua Tennis 2009 doesn't go for one-to-one motion replication, and while this means it's not the ultimate demo for the technology, we're very pleased that the team has focused on playability. After all, can you imagine what a nightmare it could be trying to hit the ball at all, with proper one-to-one control, let alone hitting it sweetly? Instead, the game assumes you have a base skill level – i.e. you're a decent player, which is a fair assumption given that you're playing with Federer and Nadal and the like. So instead of requiring you to swing perfectly and at the right height, it's relatively forgiving, instead allowing you to focus on shot types and angles; the strategy of the game, in other words, as opposed to movement minutia.

No, it won't. I don't know why IGN thinks that it would be a nightmare to play tennis with 1:1 motion. Haven't they tried GST?

Yes! VT>GS bigtime! I know when I buy a tennis game, the first thing I look for are mini games allowing me to hit meat at zoo animals! And that's the thing. Does GS even have[i] any mini games involving zoo animals? Yeah, I think not!*

I agree with some, but:

Modes I would give to GST. The minigames in GST are actual tennis academy games like aussie doubles, king of the net, etc (I was so excited when I heard this since I played all these games in juniors). But hey, if you like the idea of hitting bamboo shoots into the mouths of koala bears, be my guest and go with VT.

Also, we don't know much about GST career, so I'll reserve my opinion until we know more.

In the end, it will come down to which one has the best and most competitive gamesplay offline and online.

To the best of my knowledge this is 12 courts from the only 4 tournaments confirmed. Wait until full details come out about the courts.

Is there a reason you say this? I would give GS an easy win here. Very unique.

The career mode has yet to be annouced so once again wait until full details are revealed.

This entire comment is just plain stupid.

As said before you are comparing PS3/Xbox 360 game to the Wii and also a first time ever game to a third in the series game. As I have said wait until all the details of this game are released and also for PS3/Xbox 360 details. IMO GST gameplay is far superior to VT and this is - to me - the most important aspect of a (tennis) game.

stop people from leaving the store with ea's grand slam tennis? why should anyone listen to u? grand slam tennis has something Vt really lacks, and that's innovation in any sense of the word. vt has done nothing new in their last few games, whereas Ea is attempting to launch a new tennis franchise. if you were a tennis fan you would encourage people to get both games to further improve each developer's desire to best the competition, resulting in better games for all of us. Mind you i will be getting both games myself, but the fact is just cause U dont like gst means jack.

What seems like the most credible source? The little infostump from gamersdailynews or the preview from IGN who have actually played the game...?

Exactly. Neither game has seen one review, plus he hasn't even played either game, and he is going to tell people not to buy GST. Wow.
