Hey Guys…We are currently looking into the feasibility of adding single try tournament rounds (no restarts) to the Live Tournaments feature. Since this was not originally designed into the Live Tournaments system, we are trying to determine whether this is something that is even possible to add in at this point.

This topic has had a lot of discussion on the boards since we announced Live Tournaments, so we just wanted to give you all a quick update on where this stands at the moment. We’ll keep you all updated as we find out more.

sounds good to me as some people may not feel like doing 4 rounds. the question is,will you add it in time for the June 8th release? if so,go for it.

It definitely begs the question of why this is only being looked into now, when this was known -- Mike, I'm only saying this based off that interview I saw you give that said exactly that -- to be an issue that you new people wanted addressed long ago. Why now -- when it 'might not even be possible' -- and not then if you knew it was a feature that had been asked for for years?

At the end of the day, this is still GREAT news. And Mike, it's cool that you're responding and listening, regardless of the timing.

And I think it goes without saying, we're all counting on single try being exactly that. ONE TRY. No buying additional entries or submissions or whatever you want to call them, period, no way no how or it defeats the whole point of adding this in.

This would make scores of hardcore Tiger Woods fans delighted! I've been astonished at the overwhelming level of support I see for this feature in every forum I visit, at which Tiger Woods console golf is discussed.

Is this something that could indeed be accomplished purely on the server side? Would it mean that some days we'd have "one try" tournaments and other days "multiple tries", or could there be an independent "one try" tournament each day... and heck, each weekly while we're at it?

Heck, if it requires a change to be made during the patch, I'd still be in support of it. I cannot express enough how much more vital and imminent this would make live tournament play!

I can remember in TW05 this was possible (on the PS2).... in fact if I remember correctly, it was in the Sunday Daily Tournament where, once you got passed the 1st hole, you only had one try at it.

BUT since I am sure this has been talked about since days after TW09's release then it always leads us to is why now?? Like all of the "veterans" on these forums have said over and over for the last year or more. I am new to these forums but in my short time here it seems every day we are talking about 1 try tourneys.

I will cross my fingers in hope that it happens.

Just remember Mike, that the people who like to play tournaments more than once are your customers too. Just because a small cabal of "Hardcore" players have been badgering you to make these tournaments single try, does not mean that the majority of your customers want it too.

I buy a video game to play it when, and how often, I want. So please don't be forced into making changes to the game without considering the effect on large numbers of paying customers who are happy with the ability to retry tournaments.

If you make the game too inaccessible, or too hard, people may stop buying the game.

If its not feasible, how about banning the unemployed from tournys completely?

this is just awesome news Mike that your finally considering it. We have a fantastic addition in these Live Tournaments, you gave us the taglines of "feel the drama" "being inside the ropes" etc etc...if we can get single tries in tournaments it will truly feel this way and mean every shot counts.

We are talking about online tournaments here everyone, you name me a tournament in life that if your not happy with your performance, you can go back to the beginning and start again.

Again this is great news. It baffles many of us how this wasn't in place as you announced the features, but kudos for listening and trying.

Unless I am missing something, I don't see where anyone is talking about removing anything from the game, simply adding to it....

PLEASE!!!!...We have been waiting for years. I want to feel the drama (and pressure) of knowing I can not hit restart and every shot counts. Hope it is TOUR mode. How about a 4 day ( Thur - Sunday) SINGLE entry at Bethpage to coinside with the U.S OPEN. Glad to see you are on the right track with 2010. Keep up the good work!
