keyboard problem

I have a strange problem with godfather II. When i start the game everything works fine but when i finish the initial intro and have to press "e" key to talk to this guy, it doesnt work no keyboard keys work. no matter what i press nothing works on the other hand im able to use the mouse and look around.

can anyone please help with this strange problem. Thank you in advance.

Do either of you have a keyboard utility like XFire installed? You can also try this:

1. Click Start or press the Windows key and R, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.

2. Click on Startup.

3. Select disable All.

4. Click on Services.

5. Check the box that says Hide All Microsoft Services, then Disable All.

6. Apply, then restart your system.

Attempt to run GF 2. This will eliminate most of what might be interfering with the game running properly on a software level. Once you're done, repeat the above procedure, using the Enable All buttons to turn services and startup items back on.

hey i got the same problem and ive tried ur suggestions... but it didnt work at all.. actually my problem is not only "e" button, left and right click also didnt work, but on keyboard, i could move around, use toggle sprint, check out don view, duck, but for some reasons this stupid talk button didnt work.. i tried to look for solutions here and there but i got nowhere.. im getting despreate here.. and also ive tried to save the game but whenever i resume the game, the screen became dark but i could hear the character is still moving and able to throw fists around..

and another thing, about the patches, for some reason i couldnt install it, everytime i try to install it, it kept saying i dont have sufficient access to modify product.. ive tried to download all versions of the patches but none of them seems to work.. Any other solutions perhaps?

Are you on Windows Vista? If so, try right-clicking on the patcher and selecting Run As Administrator.

im not with vista, im using windows 7.. ive tried that one, it seems nothing happen as well.. does anyone know what sould i do?

GF 2 hasn't been tested with Win 7, unfortunately. Do you have a multifunction keyboard, or is it a standard model? Do you know if it requires a driver from the manufacturer?

Well, its actually a toshiba laptop satellite a500. I believe its a standard model with some multimedia buttons. Im not sure about if theres any latest driver update for the keyboard, as far as i know, the keyboard works perfectly fine with oother games, and so far i have never had problem with it. Any recommendation?

Let's try this - try right-clicking on the GF 2 game icon and run the game in XP compatibility mode. It's possible that the game may be misinterpreting the Windows 7 keyboard inputs.
