I made my CAP a serve and volley guy, and a lot of people try to get me off the net with lobs, but I cannot for the life of me get the overhead smash shot to come out with any regularity.

Any tips for hitting one?

I have played over 50 matches with my guy and have only seen the overhead smash animation come out a handful of times, regardless of how I hold or swing the remote.

Come to think of it, I dont think Ive even seen an overhead smash yet..

SOMEONE MUST KNOW HOW!!

I have literally done the overhead smash no more than 2 or 3 times and they were both triggered on accident as I was running backwards trying to chase down a lob that was sailing past me.

I would be so much more effective as a net player if I could just figure out how to smash all these softballs that people throw at you online once they figure out that your bread and butter is the net game.

You could try to work on it using the practice court and changing the setting to net practice. Let us know if you find a consistent approach
