Hello everyone. I recently bought microsofts Xbox Vga Hd Av adapter so I can play my Xbox on my PC (along with rca 3.5 mm adapter for sound). So the issue? I have picture but the quality is awful. Its washed out, dull, and all red. Ever try playing Tiger Woods with red fairways LoL?!

So I have a brand new Lcd Acer H203H which has a 1600 x 900 Max resolution with .5ms resonse time. I have tried every setting in the Xbox console for the monitor (that it would support) as well as standard through expanded. Needless to say I'm still on red fairways.

I've even used my adobe photoshop to tinker with my gamma settings but even 3.0 with blinding blue and green do nothing for the xbox/pc connection. I've searched the web for about the past 8 hours! (for real) and haven't seen a suitable answer. Anyways, I'm hoping it could be as simple as a bad cable but from what I've read online a few other people have had similar issues which haven't been resolved.

Been doing more research and there is the possibility of my Lcd Monitor not reading sync on green from the vga adapter?? Anybody have any ideas about this? And if this is true, then would I need to convert rgb sync on green to vga? How to do this? Where to get it ^_^. Thanks again.

I'm pretty much a moron when it comes to these types of things and could use some help. =D

It definitely sounds like a problem with one of the colors not displaying correctly.

If you take just a Component cable and unplug the Red,Green or Blue you get similar things happening.

Could be a bad cable.Could be the connector on the XBox not making good contact.
Did you go into System Settings and change the monitor type like the directions say?

I did this: I have tried every setting in the Xbox console for the monitor (that it would support) as well as standard through expanded. To my knowledge those are the only monitor settings which you can adjust??

Okay, I got it all straight. I'll post what I did just in case it helps anyone else in the future. Apparently some monitors, regardless of how new they are (Mine was a new model 2 days old) don't process or convert rgb sync-on-green through the vga cable. Different companies and models have different set ups so you need to research you model online or directly call the company to find out.

If your monitor doesn't support sync-on-green all you need to do is purchase the Xbox 360 HDMI AV cable (which is probably the best choice imo anyways) and use a Hdmi-female to Vga connector and voila, you're back in business.

The only thing you'll need to add is a rca 3.5mm male audio cable which will run from the audio adapter (included in 360 hdmi) to your monitor or sound card. I actually have a female rca and am using a 6foot double male audio cable. You need some kind of adapter for the sound because the stock xbox cable is very thick and doesnt allow room to be plugged in in conjunction with the HDMI.....go figure. Thankfully the Xbox Hdmi plug fit fine.

Hope that helps someone =D.
