Not only can you tune your clubs, you can go to the in the bag option and change what clubs you have. With Tiger you have to play with the clubs he uses.
Example: Tiger uses a 8 degree driver, but with your profile golfer you can change it to 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, and 10.5.
With club tuning and max stats, you can actually reach some par 4's in one where as tiger can't.

Go to the "In the Bag" Section of your profile golfer and in there you can select which degree driver you want to use.
10.5 doesn't go the farthest, it just goes the highest. Your longest driver will be the 8.5. You can also go into club tuning and see which degree driver works best for you (loft and distance).

After reading this thread, I tried changing my driver but it's locked at 9.5. How do I unlock it to get a different angle driver?

In order to unlock your Driver, to select a different one . . .
First, you have to temporarily unclick another club, I unclick my 3 Wood for this. You can only have 14 clubs, and you MUST have a driver. After you unclick another club, then you go click the Driver you want. Now you have 2 Drivers and it will allow you to unclick the Driver you don't want. Then you simply go and re-click the club you un-clicked. Simple process, but not told how it works, the manual barely has enough pages for the Credits.
This forum is great to pick up the slack, from the lack of actual manual, unfortunately not everyone finds this site.

A maxed out character is much stronger than Super Tiger
Super Tiger has a poor club selection, poorly tuned clubs, poor distance and I find he tends to not be the most accurate on his approach shots. He is definitely the best of the rest, but EA made him just about perfect, in that there is still lots of incentive to work on your character.
I was playing him online while working up my character, but after I reached 80-90% numbers across the board I switched.

Profile golfer is definitely better. I had a guy using Super Tiger yell at me for cheating because I drove 30 yards further.

It's funny to me that some people get so into this game and want to be the best at everything, and yet they are unwilling to spend the short time it take to get a profile golfer going.

I have very limited game time due to my business and family (they hog the Wii ). I also don't like the grind involved with building up my created character so I just use Tiger. I'll never come close to being the best player in this game.

All I and others are asking for from the developers is to create a level playing field which faithfully simulates the game of golf and the PGA Tour. |

Well, Super Tiger is much better than all other STOCK players, but you can build your profile golfer to make Super Tiger look like an Amateur. The main problem with Super Tiger is that his clubs are selected already so you cannot change them, his clubs are also not tuned to get you over trees and such.
My profile golfer is fully built with bonus attributes maxed where I need them, I have also tuned my clubs for better loft and less spin to help them stick better without so much roll after touching down. I have also selected a nice rounded set of clubs that work well for me. With all this in mind, not wanting to brag about this, but I drive 350+ yards on level ground with no wind. I can drive 320+ against a 10 MPH headwind, my longest drive so far is 419 yards with a 22 MPH wind pushing me, that was todays daily event on Pinehurst (Oops not Firestone), made a par 4 green in one on that course as well but 2 putted for a birdie. I only point all this out to express how important it is to build up your profile golfer if you want to compete against myself and other players who can outdrive Super Tiger by over 50 yards ! ! !
Obviously it helps to have good accuracy as well, does no good to drive 360 yards into the trees. Thats why the Club Tuner is SO IMPORTANT to adjust your clubs to where they work well for you. I cannot stress enough how much an accurate game will help your scores. You can defeat a player who outdrives you by 40 yards, if your have better accuracy . . .
I will re-post my Club Tuning Tips when I have time during the next couple days, please check them out. I really want to help everyone tune they're clubs properly so when I play you, we have a great match . . .
The only REAL way to develope your game is EXPERIENCE. Learn from your mistakes, learn to read your elevations to adjust your power for them. Learn to read the wind and adjust your aim and your power to compensate for the wind, learn to read your lie so you can adjust for a shot from a sloped lie which will throw your ball off target. I am surely not perfect, I misread my environment on occasion, I am still learning as well.
There are SO many ways a player can adjust for they're environment. You can change your loft instead of your power as demonstrated by packattack in that incredible video he posted for us. You can club up or club down, you can adjust power or change shot type. One of my favorite tools is the Punch shot for high wind environments and to help find a club that matches my distance better. Everyone will have a different approach for the method that works best for them. Experiment during your offline Challenges and PGA Tour events, you may find some tricks that really compliment your style of playing. I cannot sit here and tell anyone how to play, but I can get you thinking . . .

damn Joker...will all that attributes etc...does a player playin w/ Super Tiger still beat you...if yes...then all your skills / attributes/clubs/loft dont mean a thing...119 or 230 to the pin dont make much of a difference....i only believe Profile Golfer has the edge in Driving.

OK Riggysmiths, you are definately correct, as I also mentioned, ACCURACY is EVERYTHING. Don't do you any good to Drive 360 yards into the trees, or the water ! ! !
BUT, if you can read your environment correctly, then execute your shot accurately, and have LONG drives, you are tough to defeat. We all have a bad shot now and then, and they can cost you the game. BUT, I have to say, I can't recall ANYONE playing as Tiger or Super Tiger that has EVER won a match with me, although there has been a couple close ones.
Once again, I don't want to come accross as BRAGGING, but how else can I answer a question like this ? Once again, I also want to point out that I am simply trying to illustrate how IMPORTANT it is to develope your profile golfer, you will be happy you did. I am more than willing to answer any question from anyone. I check this forum daily and I will see any questions to me in any thread, and I WILL respond to them. I will also accept ANY challenge from ANY player, I do WALK THE TALK . . .
I also want to respond to the players who claim not to have the time to build they're profile golfer. I purchased TW10 on 06/15/09, my profile golfer was maxed out on 06/17/09, after completing the April fools day event. First thing I did was select my clubs, then turned on ALL-PLAY to get the lines so I could get my skill points as quickly as possible. Then I played all the easy challenges, then all the medium challenges, then all the hard challenges, that took me 16 hours of NON-STOP overnight playing, whew . . . After a little sleep, I turned off the ALL-PLAY feature and went into the Club Tuner and tuned my clubs. Then I began the PGA events WITHOUT using the ALL-PLAY feature so I could get used to TW10. I then spent about 6 or 8 hours playing the PGA tour events until I completed the April Fools day event, at which time my profile golfer was completely maxed. I should also point out that I went into the Pro Shop several times as well as My Skills to purchase Clubs, balls ect. and to increase my Attributes. It took me less than 24 hours of building my profile golfer to become maxed out, then I began to play online, I did not play ANY online events or matches until my profile golfer was maxed out.
IF you want to play with the BIG DOGS, you MUST build your profile golfer, plain and simple.
I have a couple favorite slogans I believe in . . .
If you ain't the LEAD DOG, the VIEW never changes . . .
If you ain't livin on the edge, you're takin up space . . .
I suppose I am WAY to competitive, but I DO want to help other players so they can compete against myself and other players who have figured out how to improve they're game to the level required to post HIGH scores . . .
I also realize that this post will not gain me any friends, but I ALWAYS speak my mind. I am a Scorpio, what else can I say . . .
Just trying to help,
TheJokker
