Betting on golf has become even more difficult with the slump that Tiger Woods is in at the moment. For the last few years many sportsbooks had the odds of him winning any tournament were sometime around 4:1 to 2:1. Maybe the payouts wouldn’t be as generous but professional golf was more predictable then. Since the day that Tiger crashed his SUV back in 2009 the rumors came flying out about Tiger’s extra martial affairs. This was the turning point where Tiger took a break from golf and when he returned his golf game didn’t.
Despite the big slump Tiger Woods still remains a popular betting item. The public still has faith in him and a lot more than his wife, or ex-wife now that Tiger and Elin are divorced. Will Tiger Woods start to play better? So far it looks like no. Until Tiger starts to win again consistently you can bet against Tiger winning or on other players who are in good form leading up to any tournament.
Tiger did have a good spell where he played better after his divorced was finalized. However this still doesn’t translate to winning. At every opportunity people will still know Tiger for him playing the field and were not talking the green one. Reporters will keep asking him about his affairs and if he still affects his golf game.
It is very clear that his personal problems have affected his game and it will take more time for him to get over that and back to playing like the best golfer in the world.
Perhaps safer bets would be on players like Retief Goosen, Phil MickelsonErnie Els or Jim Furyk. In the past betting on Tiger Woods you got punished by the juice courtesy of the house. Now if you bet on Tiger Woods the house is going to end up the big winner as they still charge high odds due to the shear demand of sportsbettors that will continue to dump money on Tiger thinking he always has a good chance of winning.
Surely this is a lethal combination and SuperBetting higher recommends you hold off all bets on Tiger Woods and focus on other golf players that are hot at the moment.
