dont get me wrong, the game looks really fun and the the idea is really cool but i really think the graphics are just not that good. i mean the bosses look awesome but the lesser enemies look really bad. and they have this orange crap coming out of them. and the theme of the game is suppose to be bloody and gory but immediately after you kill an enemy he disappears so whats the point if you cant see his guts coming out or something(ive seen a couple of gameplay vids where dante fights baby-thingys and they immediately disappear after he kills them and it looks weird, like its a glitch)why are there no dead bodies on the ground??!!. any thoughts?
p.s:and seriously whats with that orange crap??!!

I'd like to know which gameplay video you mean...the only time I noticed enemies "disappearing" is when Dante uses his cross on them, is that what you mean? As for the orange stuff; that is pretty weird, I don't know why that is...

Id definitely just say that unless you played one of the demos at either comic con or E3, then judgment from the trailers that show very little actual gameplay just cant be done yet. This game looks really good from what ive seen but from what i understand it is still a long way from total completion, so give it time and see what we get in the end!

First, the disappearing bodies. This is mostly likely a decision made to keep the technical elements running smoothly. Things may start chugging a bit when you've got hordes of the Damned or Demons littering the environment. It may be a visual choice too to keep things from looking too busy or cluttered. Regardless, the devs still have plenty of time to iron it out.
Secondly, the orange blood. I've always assumed it was similar to lava or magma. After all, Hell is known for its intense heat. Why wouldn't its hell-spawn retain some elements of its environment? Maybe red blood blends too much into the surroundings. The developers or their PR guy should really get their butts over here to settle the score.

The enemies don't disappear instantly, though it is true that they disappear after a short time. Likely to keep the game running smoothly. There will be some dead bodies lying around as part of the scenery, but the things you actually kill will likely all disappear.
The graphics I saw in their Alpha build were quite good though, and it's got tons of time to improve. It's going to be a very pretty (and disturbing) game, that's for sure.
As for the orange... I don't recall it honestly.

I'm really excited w/ this project, I even started to read the poem.
For the moment I'm globally really amaaaazed with the work in progress, though I'm really deceived with the (pinky) cerberus and violet Cleopatra. I understand that it's not an easy task to bring hell on screen but from what I've seen, dev team is for the moment making a really good work completing that task... except for these to boss ; in my opinion, they don't match other things I've seen in videos.
For the cerberus, Barlowe illustration is interesting but, in 3D... I feel like it's too... smooth ?
For cleopatra... hell erh... I far would have prefered something more mysterious, subtly charming, like a vanishing whisper, than the giant angry building destructive mama lol
Well, my two cents. ^^
The only really important thing to me : I really hope that EA will give the dev team time enough to complete the game like they want to complete it.
Good continuation guys !

Whether that's true or not, graphics don't make the game, game play does.

yep, the usage of the cross ,should spell disentigration for the fouled demons.
Its pretty biblical. I'd leave it cut and dry.

I assumed the 'orange' liquid coming out of the monsters was a lava-like substance in place of blood. The bodies disappearing will help keep the game from getting clogged with so much on the screen and keep it running smooth. Also, I havent really seen much of the disappearing enemies but if I had a say so in it, I think it would be cool if instead of just disappearing into nothingness they should have the dead bodies crumble into ash or something and fade away. That would be wicked.

At least make it make sense that their bodies disappear like after awhile their bodies burn away or something. I just hope it doesnt just fade away.

I think the orange stuff is from some blackened creatures and, like someone already mentioned, is supposed to be magma. Not terribly convincing.
Otherwise, I agree with the OP. For a game that is clearly not shying away from an "M" rating, it looks like it is really falling flat on its face combat wise. I love these types of games, but it's hard to get excited about a game like this where the combat doesn't look particularly stylish, brutal or visceral when there are other games hitting those notes coming out around the same time. The game looks pretty mediocre at all levels.
I'm sure this has been said a thousand times, but God of War set in hell minus the brutal, visceral combat? What are they thinking? I really like Dead Space, but I don't see this one turning out nearly as well.
