Will you guys quit your * at each other. This thread is supposed to be where people discuss their thoughts about the new patch. It was a thread I created so I can get a greater understanding of the issues people have so if another patch or update is planned I have a better idea of what the community wants. I didn't post this thread with the hope that it would turn into a naming-calling waste of time.
If you're not going to discuss the patch in this thread don't post. I'm pretty sure the sensible people don't want to wade through the rubbish and I know I don't. If this continues I'll lock the thread.
Thank you to everyone else who took the time to post usefully here.

I would be happy about a tuning Profiles save options for each Track.

Will the patch be fixing both of the bounce related bugs, and the online glitched car setup bug?
It seems there are two bounce problems with NFS Shift. One seems to be car specific, where going over dips or bumps, going off track a bit, or going airborne and landing results in cars bouncing badly (underdamped), but affects some cars, like the McLaren F1, much more than others.
The other is track related. At some tracks, mostly the banked ovals, like Rustle Creek and Dakota Tri-Oval, apparently some part of the car snags on specific spots on the track resulting in a severe bounce reaction. Since the trigger points are at specific spots on the track and not randomly spaced through what appear to be smootly banked turns, this one seems related to the physical track layout (the polygons used to form the track).
The other issue I mention is that the car setups are randomly glitched during online play, generally resulting in taller gearing and lower grip. The glitch varies or goes away from race to race, even while racing with the same host and other players in a series of races with the same car.

EA still need to fix the two most wanted problems with this game :
1) Fix the wheel setup problem I want to be able to use my G25 wheel the way I want to!
2) Fix the "save game" just read about all the people that have empty garages because they can't backup their save game

I think it is better, when the EA Server saves your savegame in your online Profile. That is the best Backup.

i really hope this patch makes the game run smooth. 10-12 FPS with cars on screen is unplayable... can a magical fix really give me a reasonable framerate? my system is good and i run all new games easily at or around 60 fps (vsync). can i really expect a big increase with this patch? i wouldn't be happy with anything below 30-40 in any situation while racing, and prefer much more. i haven't been able to enjoy my $50 spent for 2 and a half months now and am hoping i can when the patch is released.
sorry about rambling but i am scared that ati users just won't be able to run it as smooth as other games, even with a patch. please don't let it give just 5-10 fps more... and that is usually all you get with these "added support" and performance types of patches. i need more than that.

I've not had any problems on the PS3 so far, but its good to see that this will help a lot of players who have though.
A larger lobby is great too. Could do with losing that timer on it though
Thanks for the update

I don't know if anybody already brought this up but is there any chance you ease up the Spin 4 Opponents challenge. This is so frustrating and difficult. I even searched youtube to find help but even there people get a really hard time doing it.
Another problem is that sometimes when playing in automatic he never put's the sixth gear. This happens mostly in the Lotus Exige. Pushing start and restart fixes this though.
Also I'm still hoping for the customizable controls, because I really want to drive in manual the way I like, but I suppose this will never happen...
This is on PS3.

Whether the second quarter comes before or after the third or fourth quarter, it's still 2009 and should be noted as such. And while I don't want to knock Joystiq, brethren of my much beloved Autoblog, I question a video game blog writing such a short article on finance, and not video games, without a source.
A lot of American companies don't align their financial year with the calendar year, NetApp are another example - http://www.google.co.uk/finance?q=NASDAQ:NTAP
I found the following article on Reuters by searching for 'EA Q2 2010' - http://www.reuters.com/article/technologySector/idUSN0920590320091110
Need for Speed Shift was released when it was and in the state that it was (full of bugs and unplayable on some tracks for ATI users) for one reason alone. To improve EA's Q2 results. Without Shift, EA's number would have looked far worse.
I'm more than happy to support game developers/publishers, especially now due to the amount of piracy on the PC platform, but I'm not willing to spend my money on an un-finished and in some ways broken product. EA, in their effort to keep the business alive are destroying their reputation and loosing the trust of their customers. Even the people who get kicked off The Apprentice in the first week know that this is bad for the business in the long term.
Can we all just agree that Shift going out when it did was a mistake and that we should all give SMS/EA one last chance with this patch, to prove that we the customers do mater and it's worth us spending our hard earned money on their products in the future!

@ProudMatt
I was aware of not all companies using January 1st as their beginning financial year.
An interesting addendum to the piracy note is that approximately 10% of all Xbox's are modified for the express purpose of piracy. The methodology of determining chip modifications and what they can do hasn't been released by Microsoft. But that's likely to prevent hackers and bootleggers from overcoming what Microsoft did as quickly.

I just thought I'd point the financials out, because you were questioning the validity of the article. It's entirely valid for a gaming blog to report if a major developer/publisher is struggling financially and to talk in Wall Street language.
The 360 hardware was also rushed to market, which is why the copy protection is so crap and firmware modding is so common place.
10% piracy doesn't come close to Crytek's estimated figures for the PC. For every 1 sold, they estimated Crysis was pirated between 15 to 20 times. - http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/53357
I think I remember Infinity Ward producting some similar stats for the first Modern Warfare.
When games like Shift get released in such a poor state, it only helps to drive people away from paying, which if current trends continue will sound the death of console ports and much of PC gaming in general.

Hmmm, death of console ports. That could be a good thing. Apparently many games that were originally designed for the Xbox or PC that were ported over to the PS3 use only the primary core and forgoes the secondary ones. Which is why earlier games blew chunks.
However, obviously, as time has passed developers have been able to produce with the full ability of the PS3 in mind. Which is one of the reasons I'm not surprised by certain aspects on the PS3. Many issues that seem unrelated all have one root cause. (Although I'm not sure if EA and SMS realized what that root cause quite likely was, and since I'm not with SMS couldn't test with absolute certainty.)
I did find out though that you can use secondary cores to boost graphics processing in the PS3 though. Apparently Uncharted 2 does that.
Anyways, I just don't agree with having quarterly's for the year ahead. I know in Canada that quarterly's are fixed despite companies being able to have any time of the year as their financial beginning. So Revenue Canada (or whatever their name is this government) base all companies with Q1 being Jan. - Mar., Q2 is Apr. - Jun., Q3 is July - Sept., and Q4 is always Oct. - Dec.
